I purchased this item for my son who plays the clarinet. He had been using a different style. This item seemed to be what he was looking for but sadly it just falls off and he is back to using a smaller cheaper version. It works better than this item. I would not recommend this. Waste of money.

It helps my thumb a bit but still can feel some discomfort with it.

I did not like the thumb rest. It was difficult to keep my hands in proper playing position (right hand). Did not use it....

We tried several different types of thumb rests on my son's clarinet, and he and I both really like this one the best. It's very stable/sturdy, and really helps position the lower hand on the clarinet while being very comfortable on the thumb. I was worried about the size of it, but at least with my son's clarinet, that section fits in the original case just fine with the thumb rest still installed.
