Many clarinets are selling these days with adjustable thumb-rests which have a small screw for anchoring the thumbrest in place. Those screws also have an eyelet on the end for hooking a neckstrap if desired. But because of the torquing on the screw as the clarinet dangles from the player's neck, those little screws often lose their ability to tighten and will rip out of the screwholes.THIS thumbrest, however, has solved that problem by not putting the eyelet on the screw itself but by having the eyelet at the top end of the adjustable arm of the thumbrest. Thus there is no sideways torquing on the screw to cause damage. This is a much smarter design -- as an instrument repairman I keep several of these in stock to install on customers' clarinets when they're original thumb-rests can't be screwed on any more.

Have to have holes drilled into clarinet to get it to fit. You also need to consider how it will fit in case.
