This ligature is the greatest upgrade for young students. Designed by Daniel Bonade it is everything you need in a step-up ligature.

The ligature was not a good fit for my plastic reed and mouthpiece. Thank you.

Love this ligature. Easy solution to it sliding, as some have mentioned. I just rough up the inside metal of the ligature so the burrs catch the reed and stop the ligature from moving. Trick I learned from my clarinet teacher.

If the ligature slips up off the mouthpiece, just rough up the inside with a bit of sandpaper!

Very good sounding ligature. The only problem is that it tends to fall off the mouthpiece when I take the mouthpiece off the clarinet.

Works very well for me. Reed vibrates freely. Easy to use. Yes, it does take getting used to the way the little bolts work (I do top, then bottom, then top again) and that can take some finger strength but if you do it right it stays in place. Can't beat the price and the sound is free.

I have used the Bonade inverted ligature for 36 years. My teacher in college, Donald Montanaro, recommended them to his students. They were the best ligature out there. The one I am currently using is older than 10 years old and I acquired it from the Army Band before retiring. As the silver plating is beginning to tarnish, I decided to order one online for the first time. Apparently however they are coasting off of reputation and tradition. There is a lack of quality control by the manufacturer. They aren't shaped properly and slip up on the mouthpiece rendering them useless. I should have read the reviews more thoroughly before ordering this item, because I'm not the first person noticing this problem. It is a worthless prop, maybe I can use it to clamp a radiator hose or something. I hear you can find a good one in person by rooting through a bunch of them, but that shouldn't be necessary. Time to try something different I guess.

I love these! I have all my student upgrade to them after they have been playing for a year or so depending on the student. This creates the perfect pressure across the front of the reeds and taking it off the sides of the reed.2 things/warnings1. The new reverse Bonade ligatures - the plating is a very cheep slippery metal of some sort - this is easily fixed by taking sand paper to the inside of the ligature (side that touches the plastic) and just ruffing up the surface.2. DOES NOT include a reed cap - I have my students (A) use the metal ones that came with their cheep ligatures, (B) purchase the reed cap that goes with it - $23 I think or (C) you can make a reed cap out of duck tape that works just as well.

The ligature that came with my Yamaha clarinet wasn't very good, my teacher recommend I get one from the (expensive) music store. I found this one and saved myself about 1/3 the cost. Arrived on time as promised. Makes a big difference in the sound I get.
