This is good quality, did what it was meant to do. Just realize that for most applications, you need a leader hose to go between this test ball and your pump.

This Test Ball saved me, and will likely save me in the future, from expensive roto rooter visits. My sewer connection to the streets is periodically invaded by roots. After the last professional cleanout and cutting out of roots by the ever more expensive roto rooter, I bought this little gem, together with a 3-foot extension tube. Sunk it into a cleanout, threaded it into the sewer line, and thanks to the extension tube was able to inflate this plug and thus block the sewer line. Then dropped root-killing compound through an other, upstream cleanout (a toilet would have worked, too), added enough water to generate foam, and let it sit for 6 hours as per instructions. After that, simply deflated the plug by means of the 3-foot extension and pulled it back out of the cleanout. A few minutes work each, before and after the 6 hour pause. Am planning to repeat this process every 6 months and, hopefully, never need roto rooter again...!The product itself is well made, sturdy, and will likely work for many such uses. One minor caution: There is a chain attached to the plug and a large ring, thoughtfully designed to be large enough that it will prevent the plug from disappearing into the pipe forever. Unfortunately, because I had to sink the plug several feet down a cleanout, the chain was too short and I had to detach the ring and instead tie a sturdy rope to the chain. Not a product defect, just a peculiarity of my application.

We recently completed "building" a manufactured home. In our county, we were not required to get a licensed plumber for the sewer hookup, so I did it myself. As a part of the final inspection / residential permitting process, we had to do a fill-test / leak test of the home's sewer/drain lines. Therefore, I needed to find a way to plug the pipe at the two-way cleanout placed just outside our septic tank in the yard. I called a few local plumbing supply stores and was shocked to find they wanted $70+ for this one-time-use test plug! So after I regained consciousness, off I was to amazon, to compare prices. I was pleased to find this product, and for MUCH less than local stores wanted! Shortly thereafter, I was the proud new owner of a test plug. This seems to be a high quality plug, with tough but flexible rubber and a nice hefty chain (to keep from flushing your plug into the septic tank when the test is done). I'm probably a rare customer of this product -- homeowner, DIYer, one-time-user, but I would recommend it if you're looking for one. This worked great and is now Wall Art in my workshop as a testament to my DIYisms and reminder of just one of the many fun times of building our new home place.
