Unlike the one you received with your radar detector, this mount has a single extra large suction cup that's vacuum attached to your windshield or with the included dashboard disk, you can place this mount right on your dashboard. Also unlike the original suction cup mount, this one has an adjustment point so that you can change the angle of the device.

Accidentally bought the for the R3. I just trimmed the sides of the bracket, snaps right in. suction is great so far.

The big suction cup hasn't budged since I stuck it on the windshield several months ago. I leave it on the windshield permanently and just pull the radar detector off every day when I park my car at the office OUTDOORS. It's been 100 degree days for at least a month now, but the suction cup appears like it's up to the task. It's very adjustable as far as angle, height, etc.UPDATED REVIEW AFTER A YEAR: The suction cup is still great. It's come off a couple of times due to what I guess to be extreme temperature or temperature swings in a day, or maybe it just gets knocked around by me when I remove and put back on my detector multiple times a day. Or maybe I accidentally bump it too much when putting a sunshade up underneath it every day. But I just attach it again and the suction seems just as strong now as it was a year ago.

I really like the way the mount attaches to the windshield- much more secure & long-lasting than the original design. A little more space taken & slight reduction in visibility but unnoticeable in time. Best is the ability to adjust the angle of device to the windshield to give best coverage & advantage to get warning.

Used for about 4 months now. This is holding up a Beltronics RD, but also works for escort. Strong suction mount with large surface area. I didn't have any issues with it dropping in the cold weather of winter. We'll see how it holds up to being in the sun of summer. Very strong suction it seems. Only issue is that it sticks down quite a ways so I had to put it near the top of my windshield. I wish there'd be a way to "invert" it to allow the suction part to be below the radar detector, but then the metal of the mount would probably interfere. sticks down at least 4-5" from the top of the windshield. Probably not an issue if you mid-mount.

This mount is very good quality. Even on one of the hottest days this year, the suction still hung on to the windshield. The sleek design looks sharp as well.

A little bulky but in the end this item worked out pretty well. Because of the bulkyness it was har to find a good spot on the windshield that was high and out of the line of sight. The mirror played a part in the 'hard to locate properly' dilemma because the suction cup and radar detector would not fit above the mirror where it used to be with the two little stock suction cups. So now it fits just under the mirror, still fairly out of line of sight, and seems to be rock solid.The suction cup holds like glue. It comes covered in plastic so no dust on the gel pad. Clean glass windshield are with denatured alcohol or similar and lock it down. Make sure you have it placed well before final lock down so you don't have to move it. Also, I see what others are saying about the vertical ratchet type adjustment and not being able to get the radar detector perfectly level.....like it's either angled to high or to low. For that problem you can bend the metal bracket itself to achieve the proper fit.....just be careful not to break it and you won't be bending but a half a degree or so....just to make it fit level.Boy, once installed and in place and all tight it's locked in good.

I bought this this replace the small metal two suction cup factory version mount for my beloved Bell V995 in a work vehicle. The original my the dectector vibrate badly against the glass. I have the original version in several other vehicles and it works fine just the angle of the glass in this minivan makes it vibrate. Firstly this mount shipped fast and arrived in perfectly new condition as I would expect. The mount itself is robust and well made with one big easy to attach suction cup. The part that extends into the dectector is made of plastic where it should be made of metal, metal coated in thin rubber preferably for silence. As others have stated I question the long term life of the plastic part in this one spot as it does flex, while the rest of the mount is awesome and rock solid. I have had the mount for several months though and no issues, even installing and removing the dectector every week day. I did have to put a small piece of ribbon over the part that inserts into the dectector to silence it but this could be the vehicle vibrates more than most. If they upgraded the insertion piece this is 5 star all day long but as is it is still better than most and I think the insertion part would be easy enough to fabricate at home if needed so no worries. I would recommend it
