I’ve been helping my dad trimming trees using a couple of chainsaws. When I first started helping I just ran to the store and bought a couple of new blades. I quickly discovered the chains don’t stay sharp long cutting through oak and manzanita and buying new blades was going to get expensive. After seeing how chains can manually be sharpened I decided to give this tool a try. Since I have tendonitis in my wrist and this tool makes the sharpening process much easier on my wrist then spending time with hand files.- The bits do get dull quickly but extends the life of the chain instead of buying a new one every time it gets dull. Since the tool is basically a dremel replacement bits have been easy to purchase.- The angle markings on the tool are a double line so it’s easier visually to keep the tool in the correct position.- Since the tool is corded it means I can run it from a power bank. We usually load up the tractor with our tools and work until the chainsaw batteries die, even though the blades are dull by then. Since we have two chainsaw I just bring along a power bank and one of us can cut while the other one sharpens and we get more done since the blades are sharp.I wish there had been a hard plastic carrying case included. My intention was to save the cardboard box for easier transportation by my new puppy loves cardboard and poof the box was gone.I noticed the price has dropped significantly since last year. I didn’t think the initial price was bad since it’s basically a dremel and then getting the attachment as well. At the current price it’s quite a deal.

This sharpener works well to manually sharpen chains. I was able to do it easily but with a few issues in process. The main unit works great. There are no complaints there. It's easy to use. However, the included drill bits are not great as they don't last long. They wear down like crazy. I had to use two per chain to properly sharpen them. In addition, the included wrench for tightening the bits -which definitely have to be tightened since they come loose - does not work! I had to use my own wrench to tighten the bits in properly. At the end of the day this kit does work well to sharpen chains but the included parts should function better.

I ordered this rotary tool to replace my dremel that wore out. It works great with sharpening my chain saw blades. But like other rotary tools ir can be usef for other projects. This is a great little tool to have around.. it's highly recommendable ..

Mine looks, feels, and functions quite similarly to the same rotary tool others have already mentioned. I wondered about that before ordering, as I've heard of and seen other copycats over the years.I was ready for some new bits and another tool that would be better suited in my truck toolbox or shop. My other tool works fine for chainsaws (and other tasks) with its wide variety of attachments, but does not have the attachment included with this product. I notice they are interchangeable, but I did not want to separate that tool from its own attachments and carry case/toolbox, as that arrangement is not specific to chainsaws. The box and most of the parts are not rugged or designed for use in the woods. The products themselves are remarkably similar. The motors sound a bit different, but rev at similar speeds so far as I can tell. The tools weigh in similarly: 595 grams for this product and 650 for the other, though the other's cord is also about 18" longer (and slightly more pliable). This tool will get a spot in a chainsaw travel box. Using a bench chain sharpener may not be a fair comparison, but this runs fine on an inverter, makes less noise, and is simply easier to bring along into the woods. Faster than a hand file and more convenient, so long as one uses it properly and doesn't need to redo any teeth.Pros*Works about as well as a similar name-brand device.*Bits for this are widely available.*Easy to slide bits in and outCons*Speed adjustment on the opposite side of the tool as the power button. I'd prefer them both on the same side.Perhaps I'm just accustomed to having the speed adjustment and power button on one side. All in all, it's a good tool for sharpening chainsaws, and the included adapter makes for a better angle on the individual blade edges. It may not produce a factory-like edge, but it can save some time over using a file, especially in the cold.A carrying case could be nice, but not everyone needs or wants one. It appears rugged enough to stay in a clean sleeve. I'd recommend it. For anyone who's never seen one, there's a bit of a learning curve. Recommended. 4.5stars rounded up because it is a good machine, and capable of more than just sharpening chainsaw loops. I'd recommend using this with the loop on the saw.

I took me about 5 min to sharpen a 20 in chain. Man it was beyond dull too. The other day I had hit a big metal spike that had been driven into the wood. It is just a nice dremel with an guide. If you already have a dremel you could just by the guide and some bits. I already have some bits for sharpening chainsaws and they are of higher quality. I have found most of the gold platted dremel bits do not last long at all. I used the bits it came with and 3/4 the way done I had to change bits. But the bits are super easy to find and cheap. So I give it 4 stars because the bits was cheap and did not last. But again my blade was not just dull, it had the tips broken off I had to grind back in. Over all it did a great job. If you have a dremel it looks like you can get the same attachment with bit around 10 bucks.
