I have used it several times and it has worked as planned. Hoping that it will hold up over the years of use.

Got this to use for changing out the engines in some cars I'm working on. It's easy to mount and operates smoothly. My cars are small European models and the engines aren't pushing the 550lb weight limit on this, so I can't speak to the durability for the larger engines. But for these smaller engines it's worked like a charm.

This hoist is great! I had a small pully hoist that I used to put a 2.8l out of the bed of my truck and it worked but I bent the guard a bit and it only had a regular rope. This thing is a tank compared to what I had. And it is rated for way more weight. I love how I can just hook this thing up wherever I want it and it has a nice chain pull on it. This thing can lift some heavy stuff no problem. and makes my life waaayyyyy easier. I don't mechanic work as a hobby, and this is great for a garage if you don't want to get a cherry picker. This thing is constructed very well and will last for years and years. The price is also very good. The package arrived on time in some bubble wrap. Overall, I think this thing will be a great addition to anyone's barn, shop, or garage.

You really don't know how much you need a Chain Hoist until you get one - this little lifter is definitely a back saver! This hoist is rated at 500 pounds, which is strong enough for small car engines. I also used it for lifting a 225 pound anvil so I could place it on a new stand I built for it. Also, I was able to lift my Smithy lathe/milling machine onto its stand with my new chain hoist. If you work in metal, you need a chain hoist.

I got this to lift the front end of my riding lawn mower for servicing the belts and steering components. It also worked well for hoisting a nice buck deer my son harvested. It works great for both purposes and for anything up to the rated lift capacity. I've used other chain hoists but they have all be 1+ ton rated, so this one seemed too lightweight at first. After using it a couple times I've got more confidence in it. It is so much more compact and lighter weight than the big ones I use at work, but for up to about 500 pounds, this is just right. The hoist chain and operating chain are long enough for my 10' - 6" garage ceiling.

The hoist mechanism is good for a 1/4 ton rated load, but the chain itself appears too light. I have not tested the chain strength and I am not an expert, but it seems light for a 500 lb load with the needed capacity to spare. It reminds me of cheap dog chain. I am sure it will work fine at this rated load, I am merely describing my impression.I may be looking for a chain hoist with more rated capacity. If I decide to get something a little heavier, I would definitely look at this brand. The mechanism is smooth and easy to operate. This is just what I needed to hang from an I-beam in my basement to lift things like a mower deck and other various things. This is not heavy enough to lift the front of a small subcompact tractor. Maybe a riding mower. This is a good hoist.

This hoist works smoothly, it works pretty OK. But at 550 pounds its light duty. It works for me, I will use it to lift the front end of my lawn tractor. I've been using a jack, then I put jack stands under the front axle so I can change the blades. The hoist is much easier, its hanging from a beam above my garage door so I can just hook the chain on the front bumper and lift. I'll still use the jack stands for safety.I normally would derate a hoist about 25 to 50% for safety. 275 lbs is fine for my application, but it would be easy to exceed what's safe. I'd rate it higher if the price were in proportion to the rating, but for this price I'd expect more capacity.

I got this to use in my garage when working on my electric bike. You see, I've been working on bicycles for a long time, and even have my own bike stand to perform repairs on. The problem with this is when I got into E-bikes, I quickly found that my crazy-heavy e-bikes are simply too heavy to use on a regular bike stand. The logistics of lifting them up to lock them in place alone are daunting.Luckily, I figured out another solution. This chain hoist rated at 1/4 ton (I got the 10' model, which is just long enough) hung from one of the ceiling joists in my garage provides enough lift to work on my heavy e-bike. My e-bike is around 100 pounds, maybe a tad more, so the rating of 1/4 ton gives me plenty of "safety overhead", which I really appreciate.Attached to the ceiling joist, I hook it under the back rack if I need to elevate the rear section of the bike like the back tire, or I hook it under the mid-point in the frame, which lifts the front wheel nicely off the ground. And because it's not clamped into a bike rack which really isn't designed to support this kind of weight in the first place, there is no danger of the stand becoming over-loaded or tipping over or collapsing. If you've ever struggled to change a tire on your e-bike, because it's too heavy to put on a stand, and if you flip it over you'll mess up your display screen, then THIS is the solution you want to look at. This made changing my tires SO easy. If you've ever had a hard time maneuvering the wheel and disk brake into the caliper and the axle into the dropouts with a very heavy bike, the first time you gently lower the bike onto the wheel while all you have to do is gently hold the wheel in place and lower the bike via the hoist, you'll know EXACTLY what I mean. It's so easy it makes you want to open a bike shop.So while I'm sure this mini hoist is great for a whole number of different jobs, I got it to work on heavy e-bikes. A purpose for which it is ideally suited. It works great for this, and I highly recommend picking one up if you have a heavy e-bike and have struggled with doing maintenance on it. This is the way to go. 5 stars.
