Easy To Use
When using, first loosen the wire rope or galvanized iron wire on the wire tightener and fix it on the cross arm; Clamp the wire with a clamp and then pull the special wrench to gradually wind the wire rope or galvanized iron wire due to the anti-reverse action of the pawl. I like that it performs as it should, but a little getting used to the functions with two hands...I was having a hard time trying it to unlatch the ratchet locks and keeping the hooks tight on what I was doing...bit all on all, does what it was supposed to do.

Had two 'big red' 4-ton come alongs break, so I tried this 5-ton. The cable is thicker/stronger, and unit has not yet broken so far. Be prepared to file off all the sharp edges and tape over the bent cotter pins that are used to secure the varied pins (pulley wheel, swivel, etc) since they can stick out and cut you up. The tension spring on cable reel is not centered, so you need to use your finger to assist the ratchet lock to engage while cranking. The crank arm also rubes the sprocket wheels, so releasing the cable requires serious pulling and/or tools. It does work so far, but FAR from ideal and with shoddy quality control.

Product looks good , priced right, fast delivery... BUT: doesn't operate properly. Same problem I had with a similar Chinese cable come-along. Gears and pawls won't stay aligned properly. Locks up. Pawls don't release from gears properly. In unloading mode pawls stick to gears and I must pry them free with a screw driver. All of this happened the first time I used the come-along. Disappointed in the product.
