This stuff is highly porous. Not only that, every piece is exactly the same shape. Nice rounded corners etc. Lots per pound as the ad says. I took one and sealed the bottom with silicone. Then I siliconed a airline connector to the other side. Check out my three pics showing how connected to a small air pump it works exactly the same as a airstone. No extra pressure to blow air through it. Great !

The many holes and low price help this create an optimal environment for bacteria in your tank. I actually use this beneath my substrate to help create hills within my tank. Using this helps create a healthier environment for the bacteria and keep your tank cleaner.

Me parecen unos canutillos muy adecuados para ser utilizados como medio biológico. Se ven de buena calidad y lo suficientemente porosos.Si bien al inicio sueltan algo de polvillo, es lo mismo que sucede con otros productos de cerámica, así que por ahora no veo problema con ello

Tried to put it in some small mesh bags and ended up with dust all over me. It wasn't sticky or hard to get rid of but was definitely annoying. Besides the dust, I haven't noticed anything negative.
