It is much smaller than the photos on Amazon show. Thus when I ordered it I hoped that it would not be too large and heavy, It is actually perfectly made and the size is just great. Keep up the good work Nexland.

These strikers are pretty darn small for my hands. They do work well though.

I have one in every car and travel pack with a giant fero rod attached by cord... you never know when you might need it.

About the size of a fingernail which is perfect. They work well with any size ferro rod but they are best with the 1" micro rods and they are just as small go both can go with you anywhere.

We use ferro rods all the time for lighting fires and I had purchased the Bayite 3.14" keychain ferro rods to go on our key ring. I wanted a striker that was small, that didn't take up space. This is for emergencies and I don't mind having to remove it if I really needed to use it. The combination of the keychain ferro rods with this striker is perfect. The striker has a very good edge and it probably works better than any other striker except it is small and you have to be coordinated to stay on the ferro rod, but this was what I wanted. For hiking and larger ferro rods I use larger strikers.

I confess I was skeptical about using a ceramic striker with a ferro rod. Would it work? (Yes, it works better than the spine of most knives.) Would it break in my hand? (So far, so good.) And I love how light and small these are. I'm a guy with fairly large hands. (It's not bragging if it's true.) And I have no trouble using these strikers at all. There's a length of paracord through the top of the ferro rod I use, and I've attached one of these strikers to the other end of that line. Stopper knots keep everything together while still letting me put things where they need to be.I keep the whole thing, along with some drier lint I use for tinder, in a plastic Narwhal Co. screw-top tube (which originally contained pen refills), in the "emergency" kit I use for backpacking. That's a "bayite 4 Inch Survival Ferrocerium Drilled Flint Fire Starter" in the photo if you're curious. All this makes a pretty nice package I've used several times, just to make sure everything works.

I have been struggling with some new ferro rods that are very hard - tried carbide - dug in too deep - hardened steel strikers that come with these rods work but have to be held at just the right angle and require a fair amount of pressure to get a useful shower of sparks. These ceramic strikers are tiny but require very little pressure and easily give an impressive shower of hot sparks every time, exactly what you need when fire is a must or even when coffee or supper is waiting. Tried them on three different brands of rod - worked easily and perfectly on all three. Bigger would be easier to hold but not essential.
