I teach non-majors science at the college level. One of the classes I do is “Introduction to Astronomy”. I’ve been wanting to do observation sessions with that class, and so I bought this telescope because it seemed like it would be good for quick setup and pointing for a short session with easily bored college students.In the gargantuan box were smaller boxes containing the scope tube, mount arm, tripod, the handheld controller, a pair of Plössl eyepieces (40 and 13mm), a 1.25” diagonal, a battery charger, red dot finder, and a bunch of instruction books.It works, and works well! I had it unpacked, assembled, and aligned in less than an hour. Alignment of the Goto system is easy and fast, download and connect the app, point the scope at any bright star, tap align, and repeat for a total of three stars, and bingo, all done. Then just pick an object from the app’s database, tap Goto, and poof, the scope lines up the object in the eyepiece all by itself.The optical quality is fantastic, even the included pair of eyepieces were decent enough. I was observing from a roof in New York City, which is about the worst conditions imaginable, and I was able to see, on the first try, all the planets that were above the horizon that night (Mars, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune), and I got a very nice look at Albireo resolved into its components.The storage case seems sturdy enough, and it holds the mount and optical tube assembled. There are many pockets to store all the accessories in the case.I chose the 8” over the larger 9.25” because I felt that the smaller scope would be easier to transport, and it is. The size of the shipping box was daunting, but the tube case is the size of a large wheelie suitcase and is easy to maneuver and rolls smoothly. The tripod is not too heavy either. The whole kit is easily transportable by one person.In the end, I think it is a fantastic scope as long as one is willing to invest the money in it.

in short, doesnt work. wifi drops constantly. If the movement was active at the time it will keep moving until wifi connects again. spinning in a circle. So disconnected the app and tried the remote. Failed to align multiple times.The box it came in is bigger than small humans. Now I have to try and figure out how to return this monstrosity to get something without the tech that will at least function.
