This product is easy to set up and attach your phone. The clarity is great using your phone or without this is a great product for the price.

Sturdy & useful little scope for the price. The eyepiece for taking photos with your phone isn't great -- you've got to fumble with it quite a bit and it comes off-center easily if not on a tripod. But for carrying around and just general use, you cold do worse.

Had this monocular for some time now.I bought it to complement an 8X25 monocular that I have had for many years. I wanted a larger magnification and viewing angle, without being too heavy. It comes in a nice soft case. I have found this ideal for the purpose and it will even fit in my jacket pocket. The image is very good, although can be a bit shaky when not supported on a solid mounting - especially in windy conditions. The handheld magnification factor is perfect for my general holiday use looking at birds and animals on country walks. I am very happy with it.I would definitely recommend this monocular to anyone wanting good value and ease of use.

I'm keeping this for the scope itself, but the holder for the cell phone left much to be desired. It was flimsy and did not create a flush connection to the eyepiece. This made creating images impossible.

really needs a tripod to use with the camera, but then works great

I bought this hoping to take photos with my iPhone. The description said it was compatible with all phones. It does not work with phones which have more than one lens.I also found it very difficult, in fact near impossible, to focus while looking through the monocular while wearing my glasses.

We tried a cheaper brand monocular and were gravely disappointed. We returned it and began looking again. We were very pleased to see that Celetron offered a small monocular as we have a full size Celestine spotting scope, which has never disappointed. The size and weight of this “mini scope” is easily carried. The optics live up to the brands reputation and the description on the site.We are very pleased with this device.

My iPhone kept slipping and had to be readjusted in the mount. The mount was too flexible, which made the phones camera lens move away from the monocular lens, resulting in a very small image on the phone. This was nothing like the picture being advertised. The monocular itself seems ok. It has a very narrow focusing range, so even the slightest movement ends up in a blurry picture. I bought it as a gift for my wife to take pictures of stars but all the adjustments make it hard to use so I am sure it won’t get used. Total bummer. I expected it to work as advertised but it simply doesn’t.

Would not recommend. To unstable to take pictures. Blurry focus. Any doesn't stay in place on the phone. Poor attachment.

I'm a long-time fan of Celestron. I have owned and used several of their products: I still own and use their 15X70 and 9X63 binoculars, their 10-30x50 and 5" spotting scopes.I've owned multiple photography businesses. So I'm no stranger to lenses and what to expect from them.I said all that so I could say this: Celestron's 20X50 monocular is a huge disappointment. Details to follow. What's GOOD: The cladding is comfortable to the touch, the focus wheel works as it should. The scope comes with a set of lens covers: the objective lens cover is tethered, the eyepiece lens cover fits snug but is un-tethered so it's just waiting to vanish into thin air... This would not necessarily the case if Celestron supplied a suitable screw-in wrist strap anchor. The eye relief is adequate for my glasses. What's bad: the image. The high coma aberration makes focusing almost impossible. It can be done but it is time consuming and frustrating. Add to this the fact that the focal plane is razor thin and you have a scope that will seldom if ever get used.Yes, I use a tripod...I get that this is a new product in their lineup. Maybe they just need to tighten up their assembly process. But I think the issue lies in the BAK-4 prism's lack of coating. If you read the product sales literature you'll notice there is no mention of "fully multi coated lenses." So my bad, I noticed this before buying, but I still thought Celestron's history of high image quality would still come through. Sadly is did not.I emailed Their service department looking for guidance. So far crickets...I'll give them a few more days to respond. If they don't respond I'll file for a return...Dan EllisSo Celestron contacted me and recommended I exchange the monocular. Which I did.I just finished unpacking and testing it.There is a noticeable reduction in the coma-aberration so focusing was not as difficult as with the first iteration. Not as easy as with my other monoculars, but not as difficult as with the first. This one is a keeper.4 starsDan EllisI give the 20X50Celestron monocular 4 stars now. The focal plane is still too narrow.
