They are waterproof, the threads on cap and tube are sloppy, the gasket is the only thing making a seal.

I love these little containers. They hold about two servings of instant coffee or two pots of a 3 cup pot of coffee. It also hold my sugar and salt. It's really the only things I need for a good day hike with a possibility of catching a squirrel for lunch. I did test in water and nothing got into them to ruin my delicious delights. Thinking of buying a few more for matches and some other stuff. They are small enough to stash in any bag.

Nice item. But learned you shouldn’t over tightening the lid. These suckers are really meant to keep water out! I have no complaints though. My fault for being overly zealous in screwing the lid on! 🤣Also good for meds, or other tiny items you don’t want wet or exposed to sun light.

I purchased this product so I could bring a small bic lighter with me on river raftering trips. these wont fit a full sized bic lighter, but the mini's fit just fine! and so far, I have not had any problems with water getting in. I would trust these to hold more sensitive items like prescription medication and such! the knurled body also allows you to get a nice and tight seal as well as a good grip when its time to open the capsule. great purchase!
