This is not post oak wood, and this is not the box the wood came in. It came in a plain brown box with no company information attached. Will not order again.

First time buyer of any chunk BBQ smoking wood decided to take the dive with Cattleack Smok'in Tinder. Glad I did!Impressed with what I saw when I opened the box. Comparing the chunks I have with the tape measure and the 16 oz can for your visual reference, most pieces were around 3"x3"x3" and that checks the box with what their ad states. A couple were smaller but usable and a couple larger. Nice dry hard wood chunks.Selection of sizes and a clean assortment as you can see from the emptied box from which the apple chunks were shipped in. Definitely not filled with twigs, punky, green, diseased wood, sawdust and other 'junk wood' as reviewers have noted with other sellers. Nice subtle sweet smell. No moldy, damp or musty scents.I can say with this and other Veteran businesses, their service to the country didn't stop with an Honorable DD-214 in their hand, they're continuing to provide the USA with a quality USA product. Yeah it's pricy but considering getting the SUV gas tank filled then my chainsaw and other items ready for a trip to the local apple orchards, Hood River Oregon or Zillah Washington, these days I'm already way over 40 bucks before I leave my driveway to get some 'green' limbs and trims. Then there's the sawing to size, then dry storing for seasoning on top of the foregoing. So reflecting on that, Cattleack Smok'in Tinder is an awesome deal.

As a backyard barbecue enthusiast, I recently embarked on a flavor-filled adventure with the Cattleack Smok’in Tinder Premium Wood Chips Variety Pack. Let me tell you, it’s like adding a secret ingredient to your grill game—think of it as the culinary equivalent of Gandalf’s “You shall not pass!” moment. Here’s my sizzling review, sprinkled with a dash of dad humor:Flavor Symphony: These wood chips are the maestros of smoke. They turn your ordinary grill into a flavor-packed concert hall. Whether you’re smoking brisket, ribs, or pork, these chips deliver harmonious notes of smokiness. It’s like the woodwind section of a BBQ orchestra—minus the flutes, because nobody wants a flutist brisket.Wood Wizardry: Trusted by pitmasters and backyard grillers alike, Cattleack Smok’in Tinder knows its wood. The variety pack includes six exciting flavors: Apple, Post Oak, Pecan, Hickory, Cherry, and Maple. They are all goodPost Oak is my fav but they are all solid wood

Being in Idaho, i can't access post oak locally, so I have to turn to the internet. This 10lb box of post oak lasts me about a year, and it couldn't be more worth it. This is the wood I will continue to buy for as long as it's available, and it gives me the same smokey flavor that I remember tasting last time I visited texas. I'm so glad this wood is on Amazon!

I'm a city dweller so don't have access to good post oak and I have to buy it on Amazon. This wood is good. No bugs I could see, is dense and dry. There were a few bark pieces, but not enough to cause problems. Brisket smoked well. The chunks are about 3x3 inches each and they are all about the same size, which is a good size for my use (kamado). For what it is, it's expensive, but if you don't have other ways to get good oak, then you can't be choosey.

I ordered two boxes of these ($30/each) to smoke a small/medium brisket and I made it about 5 hours before running out, all the while maintaining a grill temp of 275 degrees. Since that was moment where I wrapped the brisket in butcher paper, I used hardwood charcoal for the remainder of the cook. Half of my blocks had bark, which is no big deal. I like the size of these for my smallish offset grill. Not sure the added price is worth the taste when compared to quality hardwood charcoal, but they were fun to use.
