Love this! I stacked two on top of eachother. One of my cats loves to run and climb up my sliding door curtains now he uses this instead. They both also stand on a platform and scratch in some areas so I am prepared just to re wrap them when needed.

One of our cats is a vertical scratcher, and he prefers jute over all other materials. (Yes, cats have preferences. Ignore those preferences at your furniture's peril.) I took a chance on this post because I was tired of stubbing my toe on our freestanding cat scratcher, and I love the aesthetics of rubberwood. This is a thoughtfully designed product that minimizes visual hardware, leaving a clean look. The wooden end caps are routed to hold the brackets in place extra securely, but the routing ends up completely invisible. It's the kind of design detail that feels high end despite a very affordable price tag.Even better, these posts do *not* have a terrible smell like some jute products, which meant I could install this right away instead of waiting for smelly posts to air out. Yay!Due to our tall baseboards and our cat's preference to scratch higher up on previous posts, I took some liberties with the installation. Both L brackets are "hugging" the top post section, and the bottom post section is connected below the rubberwood disc (that was an end cap, but got repurposed as a spacer). I actually think this would work just as well for us if we removed the bottom post altogether, in which case we would keep the second scratcher on hand as backup.Overall, I'm pleased with it. It gives a clean look, offers optionality for installation, and keeps my cat from eyeing the nearby sofa. I will definitely consider more from this brand in the future.

I took in a stray kitten a few years ago. She lives in my shop building due to not getting along with my senior cats that are in the house. We get extreme temperatures here, anywhere from -18F to 112F. Since heating and cooling the whole shop is unaffordable and since the shop is un-insulated, I upgraded my restroom out there to give her a place to go that is climate controlled (heat and a/c, just for her).In the main shop area I made her deluxe sisal scratchers from 5" round fence post and carpet. They are big, tall, and heavy, and impractical for the small room. The new wall scratcher gives her an important amenity along with the HDTV, pet door, and multiple places to sleep and sit. I was expecting the scratcher to be kind of flimsy but good enough for the tight space I have. I was really surprised that when I got it put together, it was really sturdy, like it was one solid piece. She took to it right away though I was unable to get an action shot of that. I highly recommend this scratcher for anybody short on space.

This scratch post is very easy to assemble and mount to the wall.I'm a little concerned about longevity, as the ropes are attached with only a single staple at each end. However, we'll see how things go for now. The cats are pleased to have another scratching surface!
