Great system, easy to install. I installed mine for selective exit of the house. We 2 cats, one is blind and should not go outside, I installed the door with the sensor facing in so only the outdoor cat can get out. He also can only go out when his collar is on which also has a tracker so it works great for the added security vs opening based on microchip. Runs off a 9 volt battery, and the collar magnet is relatively small. The gate locks reliably and securely such that the indoor cat can't really sneak out behind (unless maybe they were nose to but trailing out) but they don't really do that. Neither of the cats were able to paw it open without the magnet. Would recommend for the price!

This is a nice product. We had trouble with the magnetic system working as we had hoped. Size is good for a cat and easy to install.

We use it to keep the stray cats out that like to come in, but the door doesn't always close; it stays partially open on either side.Everything has to line up just right for the door to work. It took my cat a while to get used to the noise of the opener and to wearing a collar, and then the hanging magnet. The magnet tends to pic up metal object like screws & nails, and tiny iron particles from the dirt. We're still using it. I don't know what else to do.

Excelente producto con funcionamiento impecable. Después de 4 meses de uso con dos gatos que entran y salen, al menos, 20 veces al día, aún no he tenido que cambiar la batería.Dos años después ¡sigue con la misma batería!

(Full Review)When I 1st had my cat I chose this particular cat flap unit to be fitted in the new external kitchen door because of the 4-way locking ability was perfect for all my needs. It lasted 10years and would still of been ok if not for the shadow boxing the cat chose to do on it fighting the bigger cats from the relative safety of indoors. So over time the flap and whole unit took a battering. I'm happy to say she's grown out of that phase now.So when choosing a replacement unit it was a simple choice and much easier to pick the exact same one because size wise the fitting would be simple.I found Amazon to be the cheapest by far than anywhere else I looked with most units selling upwards of £50!!The Cat Mate crew have made a great adjustment to this latest model by making it a Soft Closing flap. Essentially by reducing the weight of the magnet and flap itself. This is a big improvement as the previous model used to bang shut every time it was used. Now I barely hear it at all.A big plus point! The negative being that on occasion the flap doesn't quite close because of the reduced strength of the magnet, but I haven't experienced any unwanted visitors after 3months so I don't see it as a problem.Update:Buy magnets via link below. Wrap Only 3 in cling film to protect from weather. Add a 4th to use the sticky label. Place outside of flap above where existing magnet is. This will prevent flap staying ajar. Problem solved and flap still closes quietly. 👍🏻https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004W7UN4U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_X94RBJ349GN58Z6NQBD8If you can't use link, type this into search bar on Amazon.Neodymium 20×6×1.5mm (south)The unit works by installing a 9v battery (not supplied) which lasts absolutely ages as only a small current is needed. Your cat wears a magnet which you fit on the collar that isn't too intrusive to them. Make sure the 'paw' is facing outwards. The 4-way locking comprises:• Fully Lock• Fully Unlock• Lock on the Inside• Lock on the OutsideSo for instance you can set it to lock from inside meaning your cat can enter (maybe last thing at night) then not get back out again. Or alternatively if you want your cat to stay out you can set it to prevent the cat coming back in until you are ready.Only the cats with a magnet can enter through the flap, even if set to unlock. This product is ideal if you either have one cat or you are happy for all your cats to follow the same regime. If you have more than one cat and maybe you need to keep a kitten indoors then Cat Mate make a Micro Chip unit where by you can individually program each chip (again worn on the collar) to allow entry/exit.I only have one cat at present so this suits all my needs.Template and screw fixtures for different depth fittings and 2 collar magnets are all supplied.Extra magnets can be bought seperately if you require more than two.Thankyou for reading my Full Review and if you've found it Helpful then please let me know.

This thing is pretty awful. I don't trust any of the good reviews on here. The dongle and latch mechanism to "unlock" the cat door is so finicky that you have to have it in the perfect spot to unlatch the door. I can't get it to work 8 out of 10 times myself, I have no idea how a cat would be able to do it. When it finally seems to activate, most of the time the latch only goes down half way so the door still will not open. I just cannot see my cats learning how to get this open. Also the dongle needs to hang pretty low towards the bottom of the door but all cat collars need to be fairly tight around a cats neck or they will lose them. So unless my cat is slinking in very low, it will not even register that there is a dongle nearby. Not a good design at all. The one plus is that it does keep the neighbor cats out... Just happens to keep my cats out too.

I had an unexpected "crop" of 6 kittens born to a ferrel cat on my ranch. Mom (wild as could be) high-tailed it as soon as she could ween the kitties but I adopted them and they are living the spoiled life now, having their own automatic door into my barn.I didn't even bother to read the instructions. Installation is easy (well, on a barn it was) and the hardest part was getting the magnets on the new cat "necklaces." Not a fault of the magnet, just do to arthritis. My kittens are about 13 weeks old and they adjusted to their new door easily. I went outside and stuck a feather into the bottom of the door, and soon they were going in and out of the door without any problems. My main concern though is that as these kittens grow, the opening looks like it might be too small when they turn into full size cats. Time will tell though and I plan to update.I suspect this contraption is made in the UK. It calls for a weird designation for the battery that is placed in the bottom part of the door (why didn't they just call it a 9 volt battery?) But, it works well to trigger the small latch that allows pets to enter or exit.(UPDATE)5 months after my purchase, this door is still doing great and my grown cats come and go as they please. Another ferrel cat has showed up and has no idea how or why my adopted cats can pass through this "magic wall"... I have had no skunks come though, no raccoons, badgers, possum or anything other than my pet cats go in and out and so I'm changing my review from 4 stars to 5 stars...

I bought this because I have three cats, two boys and one elderly girl. The boys pick on the girl. She now has her own bedroom. It was a struggle getting her to use it, she doesn't like using her face to push things, she uses her feet. It took me about two weeks of persistently pushing her face into the door to get her to see how to do it. She is an incredibly intelligent cat, so if you have a cat of normal intelligence who doesn't like to push with its face, you may be out of luck. It took me a bit to figure out that I had to mount it higher up so the magnet would hit it every time. Fortunately, I mounted it in a board, not in the door or wall. Make sure you mount it high enough! It's now working great. The boys don't even try to go in there and she loves hanging out in her room. They have even stopped bothering her for the most part because she can now escape. It's not so much fun if your target can always get away!I don't know if they've improved the design or what, but I can't push through the door without the magnet, so I can't see how any wild animal or cat without the collar could possibly get in. I can't. I can't pull it or push it. Maybe an animal with sucker-feet could do it...I'm very glad I got this. Everyone is happier. I was becoming distraught, not knowing how to protect my beloved girl from my beloved boy (they are 13 and 10, we've had them both a long time!) I was even starting to think we might have to find one a new home, which broke my heart. This door saved me and me cats from having to be separated so I'm just thrilled with it!
