Your cart is empty.The Minuteman International Nautical Fireback features a ship's anchor and wheel, sculpted in fine detail and comes in two sizes to fit fireplaces in older and contemporary homes. While many people think of our Firebacks as being purely decorative, solid cast iron firebacks first absorb and then radiate the heat directly into the room, making the fireplace much more efficient at heating the house. They also protect firebrick, increasing the life of the firebox and helping to prevent further damage to an aging fireplace. Firebacks are designed to rest on the floor of the hearth, but fireback supports may also be used to hold the fireback upright and raise it off the hearth if extra height is desired. All our firebacks are designed for use with both gas logs and wood burning fireplaces.

My item was a Father's Day gift. The ship's helm and anchor are mounted to the fireback with two allen screws from the backside. Both screws connect to the anchor through the helm; both were loose when it arrived. The bottom screw will not secure; whether it is stripped, or too short is unknown. The top screw tightened enough to hold together, but scratches on the back around the bottom screw are a clear indication that it was shipped with the knowledge that the unit was defective. Otherwise, it is a decorative piece, and should perform the intended use of protecting firebrick. Not recommended at the price.

Wow! I’m very disappointed. The company clearly sent me the one reject they had in stock. The firebox has a visible flaw, and more than that, the anchor is UPSIDE DOWN!!! How this got shipped out is beyond me. I don’t care so much about the flaw, but nevertheless, they should take pride in their product. Other than these issues, it’s beautiful. I’ll be requesting a replacement.
