Package came without the feet even though the description specifically states the feet are included. The plate itself does its job OK, but it's disappointing that the feet were not included.

Our fireplace firebox was looking pretty poor appearance wise on the back wall from all the fires over time. We just put in a new wood stove and this fireback plate installed in the firebox dresses up the back wall so that you can't see any of the excessive wear. It's just to improve the appearance in our case, but for that we are very happy with the purchase. It is heavy, but just what we wanted.

This really works. It throws the heat out of the fireplace, which makes my room warmer.

I bought it to help/cover a cracked on the back of the fireplace. It was stated that it could produce up to 50% more heat... that was a huge understatement! We cannot believe the intense heat this throws off and how much we will be saving on wood. Until now we had been wasting soooo much money not to mention the heat loss. This is unbelievable and we will be buying more in the future as gifts. Looks great too!

Bought this and really helped get the heat out of our fireplace. Protects the brick and looks great.

Relatively cheap, thick and heavy.

I read online that firebacks serve a helpful purpose of both protecting the back wall and increasing efficiencies of fireplaces through radiant heat. My retrofitted vented gas fireplace developed a small crack in the concrete back wall, so I thought this would be a good way to protect from further damage, while also helping increase heat output on generally poor efficiency gas logs.Amazon shipped and delivered in 1 day for me, and when I pulled it into my house the first thing I noticed was the weight- it’s about 35lbs of painted cast iron. I purchased the 19in wide model, which fit perfectly in my 20” wide back wall fire box. The cast iron is approximately 0.3in thick- it’s a solid piece with a little flourish at the top, but it’s more practical than some of the decorative firebacks I’ve seen online. Considering my back wall and sidewalls are black and my fireplace is overall small, a design wouldn’t work well anyway, and likely wouldn’t be seen once installed. In fact; as you can tell in my picture it’s hard to even tell it’s there. So far I can’t say how it’ll hold up, but considering it’s a giant hunk of cast iron, I can’t imagine it falling apart. I also can’t comment on how well it’s radiant heat output increases efficiency, but the principle is sound- time will tell if it makes any material difference, but I can say so far it’s not hurting anything.
