These are some of the best oil pastels they have beautiful strong pigments. They are neither to hard nor to soft. They also layer and blend quite well.

Much firmer than Sennelier but will layer on top of Sennelier. Really nice, opaque white. Beautiful range of colors, good for drawing lines and details, blends well, can buy open stock (e.g. Jacksons Art supplies). Really glad I bought this set.

I love these oil pastels and am glad I got the 96 color set. These oil pastels are firmer than the Sennelier and Mungyo, which is great because they are easier to layer and there is less mess, especially if you work in a warm climate. They are hard enough I believe it is possible to take them out for plein air work, even in Singapore.The color selection is perfect - as you can see from my pictures, I can use them to represent just about anything I want. When you start using these, you'll realize how genius the color selection is. I often only need to pick out less than 20 sticks to represent a scene. The lay on is very smooth and it is easy to blend.My only wish is that there are more muted colors - but for that the Hwawon is a good compliment to this set as this set has quite a lot of blues and the Hwawon does not. The Caran d' ache also has a large amount of greens so it is perfect for landscape painting.The whites do not layer down very brightly, so you need to lay down the light colors and the saturated colours first. The saturated colors are quite transparent so once you put down a dark color, you won't be able to regain the saturation - so put them down first.Simply wonderful. The price seems a bit steep, but it's actually really cheap considering that for oil pastels - you don't need other things. No brushes, no mediums, no solvents. And you got 96 colors! For the amount of art work you can create, it's definitely worth it. I think it's the perfect set for getting quick daily practice in and you learn a lot about color relationships.

These are well worth the cost, even for a beginner. Cheap oil pastels feel cheap, don't have good color build, and are frustrating. These are NOT cheap in price or quality. If you've been thinking about it, get them. For some reason the light blue is a little hard but I'll probably just get a new one on Blick.

Non ho paragoni per questi pastelli a olio, sono gli unici che posseggo e li trovo stupendi: hanno colori meravigliosi e un’ottima consistenza.Ho comprato la scatola da 48 (approfittando di un’offerta a tempo) perché ho provato quella da 12 e me ne sono letteralmente innamorata.Il mio grande rammarico è di non aver avuto il coraggio di acquistare direttamente la scatola con tutti i colori, ne vale davvero la pena!Commento la spedizione: il pacco che mi è arrivato a casa consisteva in una semplice busta di cartoncino (e mi permetto di dire che per i prodotti di belle arti si dovrebbe usare un imballaggio più sicuro…) ma il corriere è stato molto premuroso e me l’ha consegnato in mano; la scatola in ogni caso è fatta benissimo (chi conosce i prodotti Caran D’ache lo sa!) e protegge in maniera adeguata i colori all’interno.

I held out on getting these because of the price, but I wish I had just purchased them instead of spending any money on cheaper brands. The quality is undeniably superior- unmatched among the many other brands I’ve tried. Beautiful saturated pigment that lays down so nice and smoothly. Texture is rich and luscious, but doesn’t lay down a thick layer like other creamy oil pastels I have (which is awesome because it’s less prone to smudging/messiness, and easier to blend without filling up the paper tooth so quickly).

The neopastels are pigmented and smooth to apply and blend. It’s easy to layer but they are not creamy enough so you need to start with the lighter colors first.Application: they apply smoothly, the pigment are soft and saturated so you only need a light hand to applyBlending: they blend seamlessly, doesn’t rub off of the paper or doesn’t clumpLayering: They are not as soft and creamy as Sennelier or Mungyo Artist Gallery Extra Soft Oil pastel, that’s why the lighter colors doesn’t show when you layer on top of a darker color. I don’t consider this factor as a negative because being less creamy, the neopastels are more saturated and when I blend with fingers, they don’t rub off nor become lumpy. And I have my senneliers or mungyo to layer on top if the neopastels aren’t showing.Value: I got this at a discounted price, but of course being at the pro high quality level, it’s still pricey. I got the value because of it’s excellent lightfast quality, and wider range of colors, for a professional and serious artists, the price isn’t bad as compared with Sennelier 72 set.Wish: I hope they add more color. I’m missing deeper/darker reds, more pinks (especially grey pink) and ice blue. Also, other brands have at least 120 colors available.

these are amazing. received these for Christmas and my art student daughter promptly claimed them. superb quality. blends well. bright colours.
