FAQ:

Q:Why the back-up camera does not work after installing our device?

A:Turn off the car engine, disconnect the power behind the car main unit for 5 minutes, let it forget the previous information, and the back-up camera will work normally.

If the reverse camera displays a gray screen, please check if the camera type is set to OE camera in the car settings.

Car setting -> Camera type -> OE camera.

This works perfectly for my 4Runner. Easy install and connects wirelessly every time. Definitely a cost effective way to add CarPlay to your vehicle.

The idea of a product like this is great. Keep your factory head unit and get Android Auto/Apple Carplay without having to change everything. When this thing worked, it was fine. Only as good or bad as both the limits of the factory head unit and Android Auto as well as the Carabc unit itself. Initially, as many have reported, the only real bug with the unit was its failure to connect consistently. Once you got used the quirk, it generally worked fine. However, the unit lasted a grand total of 35 days before it failed. The display for the unit stopped working after a 1 and a half drive. The music was still playing and Google Maps was still working but nothing could be seen on the factory head unit. No amount of troubleshooting ever got the unit to display again short of unplugging it and plugging it back in. This is where a primary problem exists. That's the step recommended by the vendor. The problem is that the unit is buried inside the dash. In my vehicle (Toyota Tundra) half the dash has to be removed in order to get the unit out. Obviously this doesn't make sense if this becomes a frequent problem. Add to this that the seller is just about as unresponsive to warranty/support requests as you would expect from a Chinese company and you get a unit that is basically junk.Of course, Amazon saved the day by allowing a return of the unit.Bottom line; don't buy this unless you want it to be a constant headache.

I like the fact that I can now add wireless Car Play (at a fairly reasonable price) to my 2018 Toyota Highlander's existing stereo system. This allows me to keep the existing features that my car has that I enjoy, such as NAV and speed limit signs integrated into the instrument cluster AND add Apple Car Play (Android too) to get Waze, Apple Maps, Pandora, and other apps when I want them.I did try replacing the entire head unit with a larger android-based display, which looked really nice, but I lost some of the car's normal functionality I have grown accustomed to, and that system was a little buggy if you threw the car in reverse before the android unit was fully booted. You'd get all kinds of odd behaviors and sometimes a dead black screen until you rebooted the system.I don't have any of those issues with this CarABC system. Very straight forward instructions, works flawlessly. My only issue was trying to shove this extra box and cables into an already tight space but found the cables just long enough to shove the box behind the glovebox/passenger air bag and then everything fits and no rattles. If you are satisfied with your car's existing stereo head unit but just want to add Apple/Android car play, then look no further than this device.UPDATE: After a few months of using this unit, it broke (lost audio completely, and the backup camera was flakey/inconsistent) HOWEVER, I'm still a happy customer. Here's why... Look, things will occasionally break, esp. technology items like this in a moving car, this is just the reality we live in. But the reason why I still stand behind this product, and yes, I would recommend this to a friend/family member, is because of the quality of service I received. I reached out to the seller to help me troubleshoot my issue, and very quickly with no fuss they sent me a brand-new replacement. Their responses were FAST, and respectful, and were very interested in my feedback and satisfaction. THAT is exactly what I look for in a company... one that backs up their products, and truly cares about/supports their customers. (5 Stars)

No it's not perfect. But it is absolutely amazing overall. Installing this has breathed new life into my 2016 Toyota Highlander and I'm absolutely amazed. I read the other reviews and will say that most exaggerate the problems. The tradeoff is well worth it, except one thing that I won't even take a star off for... read on.* Boot up time. I'd say this thing boots faster than most modern cars that I've driven that have the same features. Truly, go sit in a 2023 model Toyota, or Honda... it takes forever for the boot screen and a dozen messages and confirmations... This boots faster.* Rear camera responsiveness. Yes, if you start your car and slam it into gear in one breath, the rear camera will have not had time to initialize. But as another reviewer here pointed out... don't do that! It's bad for your car anyway. Wait 5 seconds (or ideally a minute to let your car idle settle), and then roll. This is a driver problem.* Fitment. Ooof... yes it was a tight squeeze for sure. There's not a lot of room and the device just barely fits behind the AC control panel. I didn't install the wifi antenna or the usb video, and I intentionally broke two clips off the AC panel to fit it in. But once I did... it was like OEM look. Other than the boot logo, nobody would ever know.* Responsiveness etc. The thing is flawless. It touches and drags as well as any of the OEM functions on this OEM screen, and quite frankly better than a lot of OEM Android Auto in vehicles made a few years later. It's fine.. better than you should expect.* THE WORST PART... okay, this is the only real, true, negative of this system. The audio quality is bad. It's survivable. But it is worse than the OEM sound quality. This goes for phone calls and stereo music played from Android. My guess is it's either the DSP being used, or it's added resistance from the cables, or it might just not be tuned properly for the speaker system in my vehicle. It has a very detailed EQ that I intend to mess with. I'll probably get a frequency tuner and a good mic for my cell phone, and tune each frequency at volume to see if I can smooth it out. As it stands, my basic recommendation is to adjust the EQ by LOWERING the gain on frequencies, not increasing it. I recommend dragging the mid range down, rather than pushing the lows and highs up, for a rock-like setting. All internal presets are terrible except maybe classical. This is almost a deal killer. But honestly the rest of the experience is so good with Android auto, Waze, and YouTube music in place... I will happily figure out the audio quality one way or another.Overall an amazing device for this price.

First I'll tell you everything I love about the unitObviously top of the list is just the ability to be able to add Android auto is absolutely awesome. Some people complain about the screen detail I think that's ridiculous so ignore those reviews obviously it's not going to be crisp and clear but that is just simply the limitation of the display that's already built into your truck. If you're going to complain about that then you're not going to be happy with anything. Just so you know you can go into the settings of the unit and adjust the contrast and brightness I was able to get it to a point where it looked less fuzzy by doing that. All in all though it doesn't bother me in the least. Installation was super easy, literally just plug it in. I would recommend running the USB cable out what I did was I popped out my auxiliary port and ran the wire out from there just left the auxiliary port laying behind the panel it's easy enough to pop back in if you decide you want it someday but with having the Android auto it makes the auxiliary port completely pointless anyway. Using the USB I changed my settings so that plugged in it'll run the screen sharing option and Android auto is wireless. That way I can jump from one to the other pretty easily simply by plugging it in. Although I will say the screen mirroring is kind of pointless and it's not the right aspect ratio so part of the screen gets cut off. No way that I can see to adjust that. Still gives you the option of watching a movie on the screen but the screen is practically the same size as a cell phone screen and much lower detail so like I said it's kind of pointless. As far as the wireless Android auto it connects easily and fairly quickly as long as you have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi turned on on your phone. It does have about a 5 to 10 second wait time to boot but that doesn't bother me. People who are complaining about the reverse camera I have no issues with it the only thing I know that happens is if you pop your car into reverse within that first 5 to 10 seconds you'll get a blank screen. However if you're starting your car and throwing it in reverse within the first 5 seconds you're not even giving your transmission enough time for fluid to circulate so that's bad for your transmission anyway. So in other words wait the 10 seconds it'll be better on your truck anyhow. What I didn't likeI noticed a couple days into using this that I was getting complaints from people who were calling me that they couldn't hear me well. I decided to test it out myself by using my wife's phone and having her call me from the truck and there was a really bad echo. So I looked in the manual and there is a setting in the menu called aec delay that is supposed to fix that issue. I tried using it reprogramming it multiple times made no difference whatsoever. I finally decided to remove the unit entirely and see how the Bluetooth sounds on its own. Without the unit plugged in the Bluetooth is back to Crystal clear again. So it's definitely being caused by the unit. I reached out to car ABC and they told me that there are a few versions of the microphone that can cause problems. They immediately offered to give me 30% back on it if I live with it or I could just return it and get my money back. So as far as customer support goes they were great. After a while I figured out that if I plug in my phone and use the wired option for Android auto instead of wireless then if I'm making a call I can quickly unplug my phone from Android auto finish my call and then plug it back in when I'm done. It's a bit of a hassle but honestly in my opinion still worth it to have Android auto. I don't see anybody else complaining about this issue so I'm assuming it's just something to do with my specific truck for some reason so I don't think this should scare you from buying one. I ended up taking the 30% refund so I ended up getting a much better deal on this thing than I expected. Would I buy it again? Absolutely! Toyota's entune system sucks. This Unit brought my truck back out of the Stone age. Worth the money definitely.

I dont know what the other reviewers were talking about, however I'll explain my experience so far. I have a 2017 tacoma limited. Install took 10 minutes, 10mm extended ratchet and boom. Stuffing it all back in was sketchy, a little tight but it got in. I got a cable antenna, not the little nib, which makes me think they've upgraded it since. I used electrical tape to secure the antenna to the box.So how does it work? I'm using android auto. Honestly, i was expecting lag with touch input as others experienced or lag launching the reverse camera. I did not notice any lag beyond one second. Sure it's not an ipad smooth quality, however for my needs, the lag is not noticeable at all. Also, no reverse camera lag at all, launches as it should. Out of the box, i do have an echo, however, theyve got a guide on how to eliminate that.Overall, 100% worth it. Ill update the review if it explodes. Thanks!
