Pros --Improved audio quality with the alpine system-Bigger screen-Wireless Carplay/Andriod Auto-Fits well-Steering wheel controls still work-Backup camera still works-There is a 25min video a guy made on complete install-Can use in system mic or plug in aftermarket mic that comes with it or a different one-Connects to carplay/andriod auto pretty quickly on startupCons --Some things are harder to navigate to than factory (ex. Climate controls)-Back up camera is a little worse quality-Some settings are hard to understand-Have to file down around silver bezel to ensure the climate buttons don’t stick-The screen dimmer scroll doesnt work on radio other than turning it between day/night mode (can control day/night mode brightness in settings by moving the scroll and changing brightness, screen off button still works)-Navigation and Audio works at the same volume, havent figured out a way to seperate volume levels like oemOverall happy with upgrade especially for the cost

Before purchasing I had checked all over the internet, looked at different brands and different price points to find a radio similar to this. What I found was:- Most of the radio manufacturers for these trucks and designs use this same exact radio for many different vehicles and sell them under different sellers.- The price difference usually is a show of what hardware it has like the more expensive one will have a faster processor or more ram to make it quicker.PROS:- It does have ZLINK5 which acts as an interface to use apple car play and android auto (AA), this does work.- AA is a little laggy at times and occasionally doesnt want to connect but overall works 95% of the time.- The ability to change EQ and so on is much more customizable for music taste than stock head unit.- The boot up time and customization is awesome allowing for a much better looking unit (I used Microsoft launcher from the play store to allow improvement on the stock operating system)-The wiring harness was a plug and play design making it very easy to install.-ability to download different apps and use a hotspot to use playstore and other android apps, however this unit itself is too slow to use youtube or google on in a meaningful way.-CONS:- The fit of the auto AC buttons does cause them to stick due to the silver bevels. I chose to remove the silver bevels and swapped my chrome bevels from the original face plate with super glue, this took an additional hour however now my buttons dont stick and they look more like factory.- The AC app requires two clicks to get to however its not really a problem. The AC controls still work as they should like stock.- When I remote start the vehicle sometimes I have to relaunch zlink in order to connect my phone.-The on unit mic is not very good for making phone calls, I recommend getting a different mic and installing it using the aux cord it comes with for the mic.-Stock operating system doesnt have much customization but using a launcher fixes this.Overall I got 40 dollars off and bought this for 140 making it a worthwhile upgrade and allowed me to have my maps and music on the screen which I wanted, I also had an issue with my stock unit blutooth sometimes so this fixed my issues. I am happy with the purchase and you can watch videos on android headunit customization to see different ways to make this work and look better for you. I wish it had a faster processor and occasionally didnt glitch and require me to shut down the app but for the price I find this hard to beat. It DEFINITELY is an improvement over my stock unit.

Since I bought my 2017 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn I’ve been unhappy with the fact that I didn’t have CarPlay. After months of research and looking into different ways to go including a 12” Phoenix screen or a 2018+ Ram screen I chose this option.PROS - this unit arrived quick and intact, I watched a 25 minute video a guy made going through every single step needed to remove the bezel, center console, radio, ac controls, and reinstalling with the new screen. Between never doing anything like this to my current vehicle, going back and forth to the video, and trying to be as gentle as possible, this removal AND installation only took 3 hours from start to finish (phone paired and made sure everything worked). The easement of this was so much easier than expected. The sound quality has relatively stayed the same with some tweaks here and there through the screen, it’s a different look and set up which will take time to get use to BUT there’s a lot more options vs. the OEM uconnect radio. Everytime I turn on the truck it instantly connects to my phone and is ready to go before I am, there’s no more waiting for the “attention/warning” message to go away. Overall for $200 this unit has exceeded my expectationsCONS - around the temperature buttons it comes with grey trim pieces vs. OEM chrome trim. THESE WILL MAKE YOUR BUTTONS STICK!!! The good news is you can take them off and swap them for the OEM trim pieces, just be prepared to take your time and be extremely gentle. Other than this, I cannot think of any other cons with this unit
