Salvatore Capezio was born in 1871 in Muro Lucano, Italy. Uninterested in following in his father's footsteps as a construction engineer, he became an artist of his own right, a cobbler. In 1887, at the age of 17, he opened his shop on Broadway and 39th Street, diagonally across from the old Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. Soon, the shop became a meeting place for dancers who would stop by to discuss their needs and to get a pair of his shoes. As Capezio's popularity grew, dancers from around the world made it a point to visit him and purchase his shoes.  The innovation of the products that Salvatore Capezio created and the camaraderie he shared with the dancers molded the direction that his company would follow. In this image, the Capezio brand was established to promote and recognize ongoing achievements and participation in dance.  Capezio products remain in the forefront in quality and in technological advances with innovations like the split-sole, the stretch-insert, the Dansneaker and the Tapsneaker. Capezio believes that their success is dependent upon the individual commitment of each customer to continually set new standards of creativity and performance, while preserving a reputation for dependability and distinction. Capezio pledges their support and dedication to the advancement of dance, theater and recreation in communities worldwide.

These run true to size. Good shoes run smaller than cheaply made shoes. We had just had our grandchildren fitted for shoes at a quality shoe store. I had forgotten that the last time we ordered these we had to order true to size so I ordered according to the reviews. Oops! Too big. So we ordered true to size and they worked. Now to return the bigger ones.

I took a stab at ordering these for my daughter because I didn't have anything to go off since I have never needed to purchase tap shoes before. They looked a little narrow and I thought they might be snug on the sides of her feet, but she said they were comfortable and she seemed to be walking around just fine in them so time may tell but very happy with our purchase. I'd say they are true to size but size up if you are unsure. As far as how they look, they are adorable. I love that they have a band across the top of the foot to hold them securely and then lace on top to tie a bow - so cute! They seem well made and I think they will hold up nice through my daughters first tap classes!

My littlest dancer is very sensitive to the way clothes and shoes feel and these were the only brand of two shoes that didn’t have pinchy, hard or bulky material at the sides and top of the foot where the strap crosses over. I love that the strap is fixed and not a snap on (my older dancer kept losing her snap straps!), the ribbon adds a bit of soft material over the eyelets and of course they sound fabulous according to my little dancer. We returned the narrow size because they were a smidge too narrow with her dance socks on, so keep that in mind when ordering. We went 1/2 size up from her street shoes and she has a little room to grow into them.

These are so cute for my 3 year old. They’re true to size except very narrow. I would opt for a wide fit shoe if your child has wide feet.

Nice and comfortable for her. Ordered the wide one and one size larger than normal and fits well.

These are good quality shoes for little kids starting out in tap. My daughter is 6 and these are her first tap shoes. She wears a 13 in street shoes and her feet are medium width, not too wide, but definitely not narrow. I got her a 1 Wide and they were too tight and too small. The description of the shoes says to go up half to one size, so I went up one full size and still too tight and too small. I returned them and got a size 2 Wide and they are okay width wise, still seem narrow to me. As far as size, they’re too big but we will work with them. I didn’t trust getting a 1.5 so I went with the size 2 and we are okay with that. I’d rather my daughter be comfortable and not in pain.

I purchased these and a similar pair by Bloch for my 4 year old to try since she's starting dance lessons.Got them in black patent color. There's a fixed elastic strap and the shoes can be worn with just the elastic straps. Or you can use the included grosgrain ribbon laces which allows you to better control the fit.Daughter wears size 10. I ordered 11. There's some room but they're not as big on her as actual size 11 shoes. So I think other reviewers recommending to size up is the way to go.The two brands looked very similar. I actually like this pair because the inserts are pink and feel slightly thicker and softer. The toe box seemed shorter and rounder which I found cuter. But after my daughter tried them both on, she insisted on the Bloch pair. Both brands are similar quality and similarly priced. Can't go wrong with either!

Good quality shoes, and cheaper than dance stores. They run a bit small, and you should give yourself lots of delivery time for these.
