Exactly what I was looking for but kind of flimsy and the motor is noisy. I got this for my 6 year old grandson for a nightlight but the batteries went dead half way thru the night. Pretty leaky too.

Es un buen adorno mi hija lo quería y lo encontré aquí al mejor precio esperemos que dure pues es de plástico completamente y no se ve muy resistente hay que ser muy cuidadoso de que no se caiga por qué no tiene mucho equilibrio

This was a fabulous craft for my granddaughter. She’s younger and I was there to help her but we couldn’t be more pleased with the process and the finished product. It’s a craft for a child. There is no light bulb and no real lava fluid etc. But it is a CHILDS ‘lava lamp’ project in how it looks and it’s basic concept. The lamp does not come with batteries so important to have 3 AAA on hand or there is no spinning and no light action. The battery compartment is secured by two tiny screws. Since she’s younger, I prefer a secured battery compartment. Even for older kids, I still like for the batteries to be secured. We chose to put the stickers into the lamp first. She put them on the plastic globe and base. Looking back, I feel like I should have done the batteries first but the compartment is secure. So even turning it upside down was no issue. I didn’t experience any leaks. After the stickers, I opened each packet of beads, sequins and glitter one at a time. I poured them out and she placed each one in the jar. Minus the glitter, we dumped the whole bag of that in. Because my granddaughter is younger, I saw this as a lovely opportunity for some hand-eye skill building. She picked up the tiny items and then placed them into the lamp while I held it at an angle for her. Also, this helped the activity last even longer. I was proud of her for her focus during the whole craft. The different supplies and mediums held her interest well. After all the goodies were in the lamp, I filled it with water for her. Then she needed to pick her picture to connect to the top of the screw on lid. The choices are a mermaid, unicorn and flamingo. She chose the unicorn to display. Each one attaches by simply pushing in and pulling out to change it. The image in the center can be changed as often as we like just by unscrewing the cap.The unit turns on by twisting the bottom of the lamp. There is a magnet in the bottom and the water swirls around. I would say a majority of the items inside swirl but a layer of sparkle goodness sits as the top. Again, it’s a child’s project and craft. It’s intended to be safe and it is. It’s makes a bit of a whirring noise when it operates. My granddaughter didn’t mind and be it her did I.This is sure to be a hit for any little girl. My granddaughter felt a sense of accomplishment for her work and getting to see the water and inner glitter move is satisfying for the little artist. It’s her own little work and she likes to have it on. She was excited to show it off once it was done. It’s a safe take on a lava lamp for children that they can make themselves. There are millions of items out there that aren’t the real thing that we give to children for play. This is a sweet concept that is easy to do for a child.

I noticed several reviewers who seemed not to pay attention to what they're getting here -- and who may not have realized that Lava Lamp has made not-lava lamps with glitter and stuff for decades now.In any case, this was a fun, fast project for a not-quite-teen. You can simply dump everything into the lamp if you want, or you can take a more curated approach without using everything that comes in the box. Either way, you give it some batteries, fill it up with water, and it does its thing. The light transition is fairly soft, so you could probably have this going for quite a while without it being overly distracting. The glitter pieces reflect the light really well, though a downside is that the plastic beads are kind of noisy when the lamp is on and spinning the water.I wasn't a huge fan of the center inserts, but did note that they prevent the spinning water from creating a vortex in the center. For a kid between 6 and 12, I think it would make a nice gift, or something to pull out on a rainy day.

So I have a small single serving personal blinder that emits a low sound. This "lava lamp" sounds exactly the same. The little particles that you fill it with spin around when you twist the bottom portion to turn it on, and the color inside changes randomly, which creates a nice look, but the noise is distracting. Also, after about 5 minutes the small piece at the bottom that spins the water comes up and starts to make a louder blinder like-sound. Reminds me of when my ice finally hits the blade in the blender. Basically it's not an appealing noise. My 12 year old did not like the stickers it came with, she thought they were lame. I wouldn't recommend this product as a night light or anything for relaxing. 2 stars for the look once you put it together. Setup was easy.
