Use it in the office at work, it works with Apple's M3 to an older dell monitor. Had a previous cable (different brand) that did not work as expected: The screen would flicker and go black sporadically. Switching to this cable solved the problem, it works as expected.

Took it out of the wrapping, plugged it in, and voila, an image on my screen. I am using a CalDigit hub with a 16" MacBookPro 2019.

Plugged it in to the USB 3.1+displayport on my laptop and to the DVI input on my older monitor. Windows immediately recognized it. No issues at all.

I am using the Cable Matters USB C to DVI Cable (USB-C to DVI Cable) 6 ft - Thunderbolt 4 / USB4 to connect my Mac with an M1 chip to an ancient Dell monitor with a DVI jack. I plugged in the cable and turned on the Mac. Everything worked, as it should. There possibly is circuitry within the cable working its magic to take TB4 output and converting it to DVI input. I don't know, I don't care. It just works.Leo LaPorte from the Twit.TV podcast network recently recommended Cable Matters and said that is what he uses. My oldest Cable Matters cable is about 10 years old and still in use. There are cheaper cables, there are more expensive cables, but I, and Leo too, use Cable Matters because they just work, just like my Mac.

Works perfectly with my MacBook Pro (2017, 15-inch) and Dell 2007FP monitor - 1600x1200@60Hz.The actual maximum resolution of the adapter is probably 1920x1200@60Hz, corresponding to single link DVI.From my research: USB-C to DVI cannot be a passive adapter. "DisplayPort Alternate Mode" (i.e. DisplayPort over USB-C) does NOT include "DisplayPort dual-mode (DP++)" (i.e. DVI over DisplayPort). Wikipedia explains this. Therefore, these cables/adapters have chips on them to transform the signal in some way. The cable takes input of "DisplayPort Alternate Mode", from the computer, and produces output of DVI, single link. This is a finicky process apparently, and not all adapters are created equal. Cable Matters is a fairly reputable brand and does the job.This has little to do with Thunderbolt 3 or 4 or USB 4, except that those ports (on the MacBook Pro anyway) also support the "DisplayPort Alternate Mode" protocol.Excerpts from System Information.app:Graphics/Displays ->... I purchased this cable to connect an older Dell Ultra monitor with DVI-D connection to newer laptops with USB-C. I researched this heavily to ensure I made the right purchase. When I first connected everything together, it did not work with my Dell or Mac laptops. I sent a note to customer support who got back to me within two hours with suggestions and an offer to send me a new cable, in case the first was defective, along with an offer of a full refund. After apply their advice, I was able to get the display to work with all my devices. I can't say enough about their customer support and online documentation. Cable Matters has a customer for life when it comes to future cable and adapter purchases.

I was gifted an older 22" Samsung monitor from a friend, to use for my 3rd screen (along with Lenovo ThinkPad 470S built-in screen, and Samsung 24" TV attached to built-in full-size HDMI port). I received this adapter cable, plugged it into the DVI port on the monitor, then in the USB-C Thunderbolt port on my ThinkPad, and it just worked right away. No drivers to install or any configuration other than dragging the monitors into the correct positions in the Windows 10 Display settings. This is an older monitor, running at 1680 x 1050 (medium-width, 14.4:9 aspect ratio). Apparently the cable works up to Full HD 1080p, though I haven't been able to test that. I would definitely recommend this cable. Image cables from top to bottom: HDMI cable to my Samsung TV, USB-A to external keyboard, Cable Matters USB-C-to-DVI cable to Samsung monitor.

Needed to correct a color issue between my MBPro and the Dell 2408WFP monitor I am currently using, so I took a chance on Cable Matters based on my previous satisfaction with their products. The original connection between the two devices was via HDMI and there was no way to quickly fix the issue via software color correction. This cable immediately corrected the problem.The cable is well built and has the length required for use with my articulating monitor stand. Both the DVI-D and USB-C connections seat well and the jacket between the cable sheath and the cable plug are tight. The cable has enough rigidity to make me believe it is durable enough for mobile use. The cable sheath is a soft matte-black finish that I expect would pick up a lot of dirt if it was white, but I expect it will hold up quite well in my static office setup. I will be disconnecting this cable on the USB-C side daily, so if something changes I will post an update.
