Product Description

Bussmann BP/FRN-R-15 15 Amp Fusetron Dual Element Time-Delay Current Limiting Class RK5 Fuse, 250V UL Listed (Pack of 2)

From the Manufacturer

Heavy duty time-delay fuse used in motor protection. When sized correctly, it helps protect motors from burnout caused by overloads or single-phasing. The time-delay feature allows the initial startup current surge for typical motors to pass, but opens prior to motor burnout when longer, dangerous overloads are present. In addition, the dual-element design opens in as little as 0.004 second if the fuse experiences short-circuit conditions. UL Listed Class R (IR: 200kA). Groove in end cap or notch in knife blade permit the fuse to be used in Class H, Class K or Class R fuse blocks. Cartridge fuses are used to protect motors and branch circuits where higher amps or volt ratings are required. They are available in a wide variety of sizes, amp and volt ratings up to 600Vac and 600 amps. Cartridge fuses are used extensively in commercial, industrial and agricultural applications as well as residential fuse panels, air conditioning, pumps, appliances and other equipment. Cartridge fuses are available in two types. General Purpose fuses have no time-delay and protect fuse panels, appliances and branch circuits. Heavy- Duty fuses have a time-delay feature, allowing momentary motor startups. Both are available in 250Vac and 600Vac versions with catalog symbol and amp rating stamped on the knife blade or end cap.

If you use this for it's intended purpose, it works perfectly. My use case was a 240V@15A split AC unit. These fuses fit perfectly in the fuse-protected pull/service box. I would recommend buying two packs and keeping a spare on the wall or in a drawer. For whatever reason none of the "big box" or "mom-and-pop" hardware/DIY stores seem to carry this.

Installing a new pool pump and did all the plumbing and electrical wiring turn on the breaker and.... Nothing. Order a new pair of these, insert them and with fingers crossed turn on breaker lever and walla!! New pump turns on and has so every day since purchase. Good purchase.

Installing a mini-split AC in my workshop. Manual requires 15A slow blow fuses. Local big box stores did not have 15A fuses of this type. Bought 2 packs here on AMazon. Arrived quickly and these appear to be good quality.Just for you DIY’ers like me: these fit perfectly in an Eaton 30A fusible AC disconnect switch box I purchased locally at the blue big box store. No adapters were needed. However, be careful. If you buy a 60A box, those fuses are larger dimensions and you will have to buy a set of copper/brass adapters (available on Amazon) to make your fuses fit the mounting bracket size on that box. Don’t buy the 60A disconnect. Buy the 30A and you should be fine like me.Cannot speak to the “performance” of these fuses and I hope I don’t ever find out. I feel better having them there as an extra layer of protection in addition to the breaker in the panel.
