About Taps

Straight flute design, made of 6542 high speed steel. It is used to process threads of various through holes or shallow blind holes. Can process copper, brass, A3 steel, aluminum, cast iron and other materials.

Generally used in conjunction with tapping machines, integrated bench drills, CNC lathes, machining centers, etc. Manual processing is also possible. When operating, control the speed according to the hardness of the material, the higher the hardness of the processed product, the slower the speed.

Recommended feed rate:

Hard steel: 5-10m/min, cast iron: 8-10m/min, ordinary steel: 6-15m/min.

About Dies

Made of alloy tool steel, hardness and wear resistance. Used to repair external threads. When in use, the conical locking hole of the die is aligned with the screw of the wrench and tightened. The conical keyhole has a strong locking force and is not easy to loosen.

Suggest:

Appropriate lubricating oil should be added to the die-cutting edge when cutting, It is to be reversed every 1/4~1/2 turn to facilitate chip discharge from the chip hole.

Tips

  • Please be sure to take protective measures when working, you need to wear goggles and protective gloves.
  • Before tapping confirm whether the diameter of the round hole is appropriate. Be sure to select the appropriate cutting oil for the complex tapping process and apply anti-rust oil for maintenance after use.
  • When tapping, control the speed according to the hardness of the material, it is necessary to add water or coolant to cool down to prevent excessive temperature and reduce tap loss.

Barbie might like this. Only 3/4” diameter which doesn’t fit Ken’s 1” tap and die set. Wouldn’t buy again. Ever.

Need a Left hand tread for one part of a multi tapped part. Got all 20 of the right hand threads tapped no problem with a tap I have done hundred of holes with. Order this to tap one hole. ONE HOLE! and it made it two turns and snapped. Two turns by hand no less. Complete garbage. Clearly wasn't tempered properly.

I had ordered this Left Hand thread set previously a couple weeks ago and had to return it because the die was not 1/4-20 (it was finer) and did not match the 1/4-20 tap. I thought I would give this supplier another chance, and ordered it again. Same issue. The die supplied does not match the tap thread. I had given the manufacturer the benefit of the doubt, assuming the first order had simply been assembled incorrectly. It appears this wasn’t a one time error. Will have to return my purchase yet again and move on to another brand. I cannot recommend this set.
