This does zap the bugs and we do have to empty out every so often. But it doesn't do as great a job as another one I had previously that I got from Sams, which lasted about 7 years. Of course this one was 1/3 of the cost though, sooo.... Bugs will fly in and out of it even after the zap noise. Thankfully the moths were not that bad this year. But there was definitely a noticeable difference in how many bugs we were fighting off. Too many! I had to replace the bulb - it lasted about 4 months. I've kept it out through the fall, spring and now summer and it's doing fine. Unfortunately I got the one with the very, very short cord. So I'm limited on placement and I can't put out an extension cord. I read they now have a much longer cord which would definitely make a difference for placement. It took a pretty hard fall and it's kept on working and it didn't break into pieces. I live in high wind, lots of hail and rain and it still looks new. The broad base I think makes a difference! I think it's well made. I gave it 4 stars instead of 3 because it's not totally useless. It does kill the bugs, just not a lot. And it's well made and it's a decent price. I'm thinking of getting another one for next year because it is priced well and having 2 would probably be more beneficial and it's still less expensive than the one at Sams. The bulbs are not too expensive either.

I love this bug zapper. I have had a few and this one is so easy to use and clean. It handles a large number of bugs before I need to empty it. I wish the cord was a bit longer but made do and it works like a charm. I like that they included extra bulbs with the package. That is helpful in not having to figure it out later when you might not be able to find the instructions to see what kind of replacement bulbs are needed. It is also attractive with a little flair. Handles my needs on the back patio exceptionally well.

I bought my first one in September 2022. It was still working when I moved in February 2024. I only had to buy replacement bulbs twice. I used it constantly and only unplugged when I was at work. Unfortunately, I couldn’t bring it with me when I moved so now I am buying another one. My daughter has a bug phobia and feels secure with this. I found that I only need one in my home and it kills all kind of bugs- little gnats, fruit flies, Mosquitoes, Houseflies, moths, spiders, and ladybugs. I have witnessed all of these bugs be destroyed. It is not difficult to clean and I usually clean it every 2-3 months during peak bug season. At other times, I’ve cleaned it every 6-8 months. This is a quality product. Even though there may be cheaper ones out there, I’m not willing to risk taking a chance when I know what works. I hope this honest review helps someone out there.

I bought this originally in summer’22 in south Texas because the mosquitoes were so bad. We sprayed the yard several times to curb the flow of mosquitoes into the house and that helped but never stopped it. I put this by my front door and the difference was night and day. On the rare occasion I’d have to bring the bug zapper into our bedroom, I’d drift off to sleep to one “snap!” after another. It’s bright but effective.When we decided to move to the northeast, I was sure our mosquito problem was over so I gave my bug zapper to a neighbor— then immediately regretted it over the next few months. Upon moving back to south Texas, I found a smaller, cheaper bug zapper and honestly that was a waste of money. Bugs would casually fly right next to it, unbothered. I bought this product again and the difference was again night and day.We don’t live in south Texas anymore but I will never not have this bug zapper again. When it eventually dies, I’ll buy it again and keep it by the door.Since I have it on the floor, it’s killed all sorts of bugs from flying insects to spiders. The snap sound is loud but subtle and 2/3 dogs have gotten used to it after a lot of “yayyy! Hooray!” cheering after every snap. The third dog is also afraid of the dark so he may be a lost cause. On bigger bugs, there can sometimes be a smell and even a sizzle if they hit at a weird angle, but it’s over and dissipate quickly. The cord could be longer but it’s fine. I appreciate the metal handle for carrying and it’s very sturdy.Would absolutely recommend.

Works well, light weight, easy to clean. My only problem is how loud it is while it kills the bugs! My rescue dog is terrified of it.

I finally got around to hanging it up under the eve of the garden shed. The light was nice and bright when I turned it on but in the morning I couldn't see the light from the house. First thought, that didn't last long, when I went out to have a closer look the grid was so covered in mosquitoes that it completely blocked the light. Great product, now all I have to do is clean it

Delivery was 1 week early. Got it just in time for Victoria long weekend. It did what it was suppose to do. It worked great. I would recommend this product.
