My printer kept showing error on the drum and to swipe the green sleeve back and forth to clean . After further research on you tube , I found out that these drums have to be replaced after so many prints etc. I ordered these in and all is great . Just follow the reset instructions . My printer works good as new !! Highly recommend ..

I was worried that this would be difficult to install but to my surprise it was very easy. It fixed the problem and the print quality was as good as when I purchased the printer. It was a Prime item and arrived in one day reducing my downtime.

Brother Printer 3170 CDW printer is a work horse. Small unit that has the job for several years. .I ordered this new Brother drum unit and reset the drum unit counter. Printer is ready to go for another round! Paid more for the Brother brand rather than refurbished set. This printer has printed thousands of pages. Decided to revamp rather than buy a new Brother color printer. Time will tell if this was a good decision. No color laser printer like a Brother.

Replaced these drum units because the printer displaced messages that it was time to replace them. I did not see any problems before I changed them. I did not see any change in performance or print quality after making the change. So I do not know what difference this made. But my printer is seven years old and just keeps working with good quality.

I've had my Brother MFC 9340 CDW Color laser printer/scanner/fax for 5 or 6 years now, and it's been great. My 1st priority to keep costs down was to find a good 3rd-party toner supplier (I use EZ-Ink, and they've been outstanding). But when it comes time to replace the cassette-holding imaging drum units (3 times now, I think), I opt to pay a little extra for the Brother branded ones.That's worked out great for me. My printer still prints great (for a business-class printer), and has been almost effortless to maintain. I'd highly recommend the same to anyone. It's a tried & true formula for me...

This cleared (pun intended) up my black shadow problem I was having. It was worth the cost to replace the 6 month old non-Brother units I purchased previously. Do yourself a favor and only buy brand name for your Brother laser printer.

J'ai reçu une boîte qui avait déjà été ouverte. Le tambour pour le noir n'était pas neuf puisqu'il y avait déjà du toner dessus ainsi qu'une ligne noire chaque côté. Les 3 autres tambours étaient correct. J'ai tout de même installé les tambours dans mon imprimante et résolu l'erreur mais j'ai quand même l'impression que j'ai payé un peu trop cher pour mon produit neuf à 75%...

The item worked like a charm, completely fixing drum error messages that had started getting annoying. I've only had the new unit a little while so I'll start with 4 stars. Also, the brother printer's error message was not really clear about which drum was having the problem and wasn't keeping track of drum life. We do print a ton of stuff though so it is certainly possible that we went through 15,000 pages on the original drums.In anycase, the printer started to complain hourly and I eventually realized I had to buy this item. And it did fix the problems so... 4 stars for now.-Matt

After applying the September 29th Main:1.25/Sub:1.05 firmware to our HL-3170CDW printer, we started to get quite a few Drum! errors pretty much after or before every print job. While the error could be cleared by simply opening and then closing the top cover 5-6 times, it was becoming a real hassle. Even though the existing drum units were only each at 50% used, I decided to purchase this kit in hopes of eliminating the constant Drum! error.Installation was very easy following the included paper instructions, doing one color at a time and the individual packages are clearly marked. Once all four were done, the printer went through a number of things internally, but after about 2-3 minutes was at the Ready prompt. I went through the process of resetting the drum counter for each color and then ran a manual color calibration test.We have since printed a number of jobs and we no longer get the Drum! error. Even after taking with Brother about this issue, since I believed it had everything to do with the firmware update, they would not do anything for me since the printer was out of warranty. As I write this review, I see that Brother has posted a new firmware, but I will most likely avoid it for quite some time.
