I installed 4 of these in 1/2 hour. Fit was perfect for Nutone fan model 696ND-B from the 1990's. The secret for ease of installation: use a tall ladder, lower the grill so it is hanging away from the fan, then on one side -push the old wires together and center on slot and lower that side out of the fan's slot. Don't try to remove the other side of wire without repositioning your ladder. Use your dominant hand to squish the remaining wire together and lower out of the fan slot. Same goes for installing the new grill. Look at it from the floor because it may not be square to the room. There is play to make it straight. Looks terrific! Goodbye terribly yellow, dirty and old looking trim!

I bought these to replace a few that are broken during cleaning. Unfortunately the plastic tabs on the grilles are a little fragile if you don't carefully remove the metal clips during cleaning and maintenance. These replacement fan grilles work great. Installed in less than two minutes and they look like the original covers.

This vent cover is a perfect fit however, the same manufacturing defect still exist, and that the clips that attach to the plastic anchor on the back of the vent cover eventually snaps the anchors off. I handle mine very carefully, but every few months it does need to come down to be washed. I wish there was someway to reinforce the brackets that hold the metal clips to prevent breakage. Perhaps if the anchors themselves were just a bit more burley, they would not break away so easily. If I could find an all metal one, I would to avoid continually having to replace this cover, but alas, cannot seem to locate one. I suppose this is a great way for the manufacturer to continue to make money.

I had been searching far and wide for a vent grill, trying to find one that matched my model. When I thought I finally found it, the one I purchased was too large for my exhaust fan. After returning it, I decided to ask an electrician the cost to add a grill (I have other electrical work that needed to be done, so why not?): $60!What?!I decided it wasn't worth it to replace my grill and that I'd just live with vent as is--I was the only one using that bathroom, afterall. However, one day I realized "hey, I should measure this grill!" ...and that did the trick! --along with knowing the brand name **um-hum!** Nutone/Broan!--and simply remembering what it looked like, i.e. style...I can't remember if instructions were included with this grill (I think there were some), but there are various Youtube videos on how to install just the grill. Pro tip: the metal wires can be bent further out sideways to get a tight fit (and prevent slippage) when putting this grill back into the vent grill slots.At the time I bought this on Amazon, it was less than $9. As I look at HD's website (I did compare in-person before buying this and both stores have the same, exact grill), the grill is still more expensive there.This grill matched my others in both style and color--and the others are 10+ year-old grills! I'm happy to have found this matching one and not wasted money on an electrician to fix this.*For the detail-oriented: Neither Amazon nor HD accurately show a picture of the grill; unlike in the pictures, the grill does sport the brand name "Nutone" on its face.
