After you get it together, it is a really well built piece of equipment, the directions for putting together were easy except I missed a step when assembling wheels and they kept rubbing when in transport mode, after using this for approximately 2 1/2 hours I believe it is well worth the money, I’m sure I will get quite a few years of use out of it.i got the 40 inch. Remember when doing the wheels that you run the bolt and use a washer on both sides of wheel finger snug and then into the hole on aerator with a lock washer and nut.

My first surprise was how heavy this is when it arrived. I have purchased a tow behind tiller and it is very lightweight. This weighs in at 100 pounds since it uses much heavier duty parts. I didn't really have a problem with the instructions since I have built similar items in the past, so I mainly just looked at the pictures and figured it out.Everything went very smoothly, but the part I struggled on the most since I put this together myself, is when it came time to slide the pole through the spikes and connect the handle on the other side, trying to keep the pipe from sliding out the other side and aligning the handle was a tough task. I used a ratchet strap to try and squeeze the sides together as a helping hand but that didn't really help. If you have someone to help you with that part it will be easy, but doing it alone was a task. Also you need a one inch wrench to put those huge bolts on the wheels. I would have liked if the wheels had bearings in them to spin, since the instructions didn't mention this, but I assume you have to adjust the bolts to where they are loose enough to spin the wheel. That is another thing, I put together a lot of items and the nuts are really tough to screw on.This is good to make sure that they won't come loose, but if you are only using a wrench then your wrists will probably end up sore. I usually use a drill for such things, but when the bolt was tightened it caused the drill to jerk in my hand so I stopped using it. I could have used my air drill but didn't feel like getting it.It did a good job aerating and it beats having to rent one at the local store which is usually not in stock. I am sure it will last since it is made of thick metal.

I had low expectations for this product after reading some of the negative reviews. I did not encounter any difficulties from unboxing to cleanup following my first use. There were two things I found a little odd during assembly. The instructions called for several sized wrenches and sockets. My assembly required one size. Also, the screws (bolts if you prefer) had the same sizes packaged separately. None of this is a big deal. I've learned over the years to lay everything out and take inventory before beginning. It's time well spent - in particular with the slightly confusing instructions. Some of the assembly instructions may not make sense. Follow them. It will make sense later. Assembly did not take near as long as reported in reviews. Also, because I followed the instructions, I did not have alignment issues with the holes. Before I forget - you may want to assemble the aerator on a bench or table. Your back will appreciate itThe aerator is of a decent gauge of steel. It's not light but you can carry it without too much difficulty. I have a John Deere lawn tractor, sonI did experience the difference in height once attached with the wheels down. I decided to try it with wheels up before making an adapter. It works fine without one. To aerate I added two bags of topsoil instead of blocks - you don't have to strap them down. My yard is a bit over 1/2 acre. There were varying degrees of moisture. The aerator did a fine job across the entire yard. Cleaning was a breeze. It may be a little more difficult with clay. I kind of doubt it. I really did not have to use my hands other than to spin the aerator. Naturally the paint wore off at the points of contact. I did not repaint it. It looks great as is. I think you'll be happy with the purchase.

Not too bad to assemble just takes time... Very sturdy working on how many cinder blocks need to sink plugs into ground. All round great product so far

I had a different experience than some people. I was almost afraid to open the spike package because I thought they would be super sharp but mine were not (see picture). I didn't wear gloves and didn't get cut. The instructions were good. I laid out the bolts & nuts and matched them to the instruction page that showed them to scale. I didn't open the bag that was in with the spikes. They are a little different and you won't need them until you get ready to attach the spikes. I made a couple of little mistakes but when I went back to the instructions I could see that it was my mistake. If you follow the instructions very closely you won't have any problem. I actually enjoyed putting it together. It did a good job on my lawn.

Used for first time over the weekend...live in rocky terrain...worked well.ASSEMBLY: Could be tricky at times. Take your time, go slow and pay attention and you can do it without too much of a problem. It is heavy and some of the assembly requires a bit of upper body strength.USE: I used 2 cinder blocks and a bag of sand for weighting. Cores were anywhere between 1" and 2.5". Bent one blade slightly.
