Your cart is empty. The tides operate on moon time, where each tidal day has 24 hours and 50 1/2 minutes, so high tide and low tides do not occur at the same hour each day. The hand of the tide timer easily shows how many hours until the next high or low tide in your area. Tide clocks are recommended for use on both coasts of the United States and Canada. In the Atlantic, they never need to be adjusted. In the Pacific Ocean, including Hawaii, they need to be calibrated periodically. Tide clocks do not operate in the Gulf of Mexico.

Definitely a little thinner material than I expected and very lightweight. Also, make sure you check the size as it's probably smaller than you expect. I know the size is listed, but use a tape measure to really see it as this kinda disappears on a big wall.

I have a good friend who grew up right on the ocean in Massachusetts and now lives in the desert Southwest. That's a long way away from where there are actual tides, so my main consideration in getting this was as a decorative gift for him and not for anything functional. It looks nice right out of the box with a thin brass shell and acrylic bezel making for a lightweight combination. The quartz clock mechanism on the back is your standard wall-clock variety powered by a single AA battery (not included) and is set with a thumb wheel. The movement is accurate in terms of the time it takes to cross through each 'hour' designation on the face, however, I can't speak to its accuracy in relation to the actual tides from a practical standpoint given how far away the ocean is! I can say that it's not weather resistant or waterproof and can't stand up to any exposure to the elements, making it a purely decorative/indoor piece to go with a nautical-themed decor or similar. It is a little pricey given its relatively small size and limited utility, but then I don't imagine there's quite the same level of demand for this kind of clock vs. a regular clock either.

This brass tide clock has a nice vintage look and works well for tracking high and low tides. It’s compact but still easy to read, making it a great addition to a boat or coastal home. Solid build and looks great on the wall! Would recommend for any nautical lovers!

I'll admit, I missed the "tide" part of the title, and focused on Nautical and Wall Clock. Imagine my surprise when I see the face and brief numbers. :) I'm a total Age of Sail nut, so naturally this appealed to me on sight. Guess I'll never make detective. On the bright side, it's gorgeous, and I'll still enjoy hanging it, even though I know zilch about tides. Horatio Hornblower, eat your heart out.

I thought it would be fun to track the tides since I live on the coast. I also thought this might serve as a regular clock, too. From what I have found, it doesn’t do anything of use. It is not a clock and not an accurate tide clock either.I will say it is nicely designed and looks like a real working time piece. But the looks is where it stops. It seems poorly made and on close inspection, it seems like it was made as cheaply as possible, I had a perfect place to put this in my house but, alas, that’s not going to happen.

It is smaller than in my mind’s eye but to be fair the dimensions are clearly shown in the product description. It is constructed of thin brass and plastic, but it does look nice because of the shiny finish. It takes a single AA battery, which is not included. The back of the plastic clock motor housing does not have a battery cover. (But at about $50 at the time of this review, it should have both IMO!) Seems pricey for what it is.I do not live next to a body of water, so I don’t know how accurate this thing might be. I intend to use it in a bathroom that has a nautical theme. It will be perfect for that purpose and since it doesn’t need to be functional, I don’t have to provide a battery.

I just needed a unique piece of decor to hang in the mancave and this was perfect. It is very well made and looks great. Although this works as designed, I'm just using it as an interesting decorative item.

I cannot wait until I get my wall painted to mount this, because I absolutely love it. Here in Florida, the ocean is a part of our life. We also love fishing, so having the tide pattern at a glance is pretty helpful. I don't mind if this is actually accurate, because it is so gorgeous!It arrived well-packaged and flawless. The brass is beautifully polished, and this has a weight to it that suggests it is well-made.
