Fits my older trailer perfectly. It is exactly what I had prior to it being stolen. I now remove it when parking the boat in boat ramp parking lots.

It works fine but is a bit expensive. I had to replace one stolen from my trailer...several others I know have been victimized as well. But at this price, I don't think I can afford to continue replacing it with this same product. It would be nice if it had the ability to be locked so only the user could utilize it.

I kept buying the plastic version over and over again. The plastic tabs kept breaking almost always three to four weeks after install when I would go to check the oil in the reservoir. So far, this thing is great and no plastic parts! Do yourself a favor if the plastic versions keep breaking, buy this one

Really helps with backing up a steep hill.

This brake lockout is a great addition to my boat trailer with surge brakes. In the past I have had trouble backing up slight inclines. The brakes would set. This device, when properly engaged, keeps the brakes from engaging and makes backing up against resistance possible.

I ran across this while looking for another cheap plastic cover like the one the coupler came with.First off, this one will never break! Okay, maybe if you put your mind to it there's a way to destroy it. But it's all metal including a plate type spring underneath the rocker lever.Second, until I saw this I had no idea one could lock-out the coupler at the cap. Too cool! Wish I'd had this the time my lockout solenoid wasn't getting power.I put it on, turned it to lock-out a couple times, and took it off to see how it worked. Depending on the position of your coupler you might see an angled plate beneath the opening the cap fits in to. That plate moves rearward when pressure is applied to the brake cylinder. On this cap you push on the raised dot visible at the top of the picture. On the opposite side of the lever is a washer or cylinder with a groove. Push the dot, the cylinder moves out. With the lever pushed turn the cap clockwise. The extended cylinder blocks the plate described above from moving rearward. I assume the groove engages the plate and keeps the lever from popping back in the up position. The markings are higher visibility than on the black plastic caps so its easy to tell which way to turn for removal and for lock-out.

Works great but don't over twist or you can bend the prongs when backing up. I did this and had to purchase another. This sure beats the plastic cap but I am also using the little slide lockout piece on the side with a magnet and I find that easier to use and less wear on my cap. Hope this review helps....
