Question : Why does brake fluid tester show a yellow light when testing new DOT3 brake fluid? Is the brake fluid tester inaccurate? How to verify the accuracy of the brake fluid tester?
Answer: The qualities of brake fluid vary greatly among the market currently. Now the quality of DOT3 brake fluid is generally not good on the market. In fact, DOT3 brake fluid is not suitable for the requirements of current cars at this stage. Most brake fluid testers on the market will also turn on the yellow light when testing the new DOT3 brake fluid. There is a simple way to verify the accuracy of the brake fluid tester. Use the brake fluid tester to detect the pure water. If all the lights are on and it emits an prompt, it means that there is no problem with the accuracy of the tester.
Operating Steps:
1. Install one 9V(6F22) battery at the back of tester. (battery not included)
2. After inserting the battery, press POWER button to turn on the tester, all LEDs lights turn on with buzzer sounding, indicates the product self-test is successful.
3. Press SELECT button, it will locate DOT3 model automatically.
4. Each time you push the SELECT button, it will recycle from DOT3 to DOT4 to DOT5.1 with the indicator LEDs.
5. Immerse the probe into brake fluid, the different colored LED lights mean as below:
●Green Light: indicates the brake fluid water content is below 1%
●The First Yellow Light: indicates the brake fluid water content is approximately 1.5%
●The Second Yellow Light: indicates the brake fluid water content is approximately 2.5%
●The First Red Light: indicates the brake fluid water content is approximately 3%
●The Second Red Light: indicates the brake fluid water content is more than 4%
6. Press POWER button to turn off the tester.
Note:
1. After use, please clean the probe and avoid any retention of stains that might affect the test.
2. If in use for a long time, best to remove all batteries and store in a dry place at normal room temperature.

Sucks that this didnt come with a battery and then its one of those rectangular ones. Actually using it it did a pretty good job. Im in Las Vegas so i we dont really have humid air but i wanted to check my motorcycles brake fluid and so far its read it with a less than 1% reading.

I conducted a test on my car's current brake oil, and the results showed a 1.5% concentration, aligning with my expectations since the oil was replaced a few months ago. Similarly, I tested for plain water, and the results displayed as all red, as anticipated. Therefore, it appears that the tester is functioning as intended.However, I have a couple of concerns to address. Firstly, the kit does not include the required 9V battery, which is inconvenient, and it's worth noting that this battery type is becoming less common. Secondly, I've observed that the indicator lights are not very visible in broad daylight, but they are more discernible when in the shade.

My first time I used this tester I got a 1.5% and a 2.5%, I will be doing maintenance to my cars replacing the brake fluids and see if I get the same reading with the new brake fluid to determine the inquires of this brake fluid tester. Appears to be working at this time. You need to have a 9V battery that is one of the cons I have at this time since 9V battery are hard to find now days. I will give an update after I finish with the brake replacement to all my cars.

Ok so this works I’m not sure if it’s correct I checked my fluid and it said a 2 but not sure if that’s correct. It does take batteries and I’m going to change my fluid and see if the number changes.
