This pickup really sounds good, no question.Found the correct combination of Red/Green and White/ black wires for each potentiometer. Really sounds good with both coils engaged.

I used two of these on a Project Mehr design I modified for bass guitar. I 3d printed this guitar body. The pickups are working fine. Magnet spacing is clearly designed for bridge location. But even in the neck position they pickup really well. If you can ignore the misalignment of the strings with the magnets I was surprised at the volume of sound they put out. Wired in series (seems that how humbuckers were made to be wired since they don't buck the hum if wired in parallel) they measure 12k to 13k ohms each. I bought three of these and two are very close to 12.2k ohms. My personal preference was to use two volume pots, one for each pickup and just one tone control. I barely roll off the tone control. Often just leave them all turned up all the way. I would buy these again for this guitar but am mostly pleased with the mounting and setup in the bridge position. In fact I think I should have moved this even closer to the bridge. But hey it is sounding great to my ear.Update: Just finished another bass guitar, 3d printed body. Inspired by the Gibson Thunderbird. Added a picture.

Love the sturdy build, and the tone is so funky and bright in the bridge position of my bass.

I always wanted a Musicman Stingray, because that is my favourate bass tone... but with this, I get a great representation of that tone without the cost, and I still can use my nice old light-weight Yamaha bass.I measured the resistance of the wires to figure out which wires go with each coil. I still wired it wrong the first couple tries, probably because you can't figure out the polarity without some trial and error. I made the mistake of assuming the wire colours are the same as Seymour Duncan pickups, but they are not. When wired like that, the pickup sounded thin and full of hum in both switch settings. Eventually I wired it like this diagram that I attached and it gave a useful and full sounding tone for both Parallel and Series settings. I'd say it's worth it for the tonal options to have both Series and Parallel humbucking options if you do have a DPDT switch you can use. I kept my stock precision pickup installed and I would say it's even useful to have the option to use this pickup in combination with a typical precision bass pickup; they compliment each other well (so I will keep this layout). Or, I'd say it may be worth it to buy two of these and have one in the bridge position and one in the neck position. The tone is fat and tight. My precision pickup sounds a little rounder and looser, but I would say that is mostly due to the body position. I'd be curious what another of these would sound like in the neck position. All in all, this is a crazy good value... especially now that I have given the proper wire colours for wiring a series/parallel switch.

High gain, high quality pickup. Very similar tone compared to music man style pickups. Solid low, bright treble. It brought my bass to life.Don’t get fooled by the price. It is comparable to many pickups costing 10x its price.

Based on another review, I thought I'd give it a go on my Squier Jaguar H Bass. It seems to have a bit more "bite" and "dynamic" as I found the stock pickup was good but seemed a little "muddy".I wish I had recorded the original against these as all this might be my imagination. The magnets appear larger than the original.I wouldn't say it's a "night and day" difference but for the low price, not much risk and so I went for it. I'mpleasantly surprised.

After seeing many reviews for these pickups, all positive, I decided to get a pair.I was looking to upgrade my Glarry GJazz bass. While it was okay stock, I wanted to wake up the tone, among other things. The pickups came sooner than promised, well-packaged, and in perfect condition. Mounting springs and screws are included. These things are MASSIVE. The pole pieces, magnets, and apparently the base plate are all huge and heavy. They are sealed with flexible epoxy, to prevent microphonic feedback and hold it all together.I made a routing template out of 1/4" acrylic by tracing around the base. The stock depth was used when I enlarged the pickup holes to accept these. You can also use MDF to make a template, purchase one, or if you are REALLY steady, use a tracing and rout freehand. They are wired with 4 color-coded conductors, plus a bare braid for ground. The conductor wires are red for hot, black for neutral with a white and green soldered together joining the coils. This is cool, because these two wires can be separated and wired to a switch, or push-pull pot, to tap the coils. I didn't do that, but insulated the connections and taped them to the harness, so I have the option to do this mod later.I wired them in with 4 new 500k ohm pots from TAOT, and some new .022 microfarad poly capacitors. A switch was used as a pickup selector, and it was wired using a Les Paul patterned circuit.Well, once it was done and plugged in, I was blown away! These pickups have some OUTPUT, and the sound is incredible!! Even my little 70-watt GK Backline 110 sounded big and powerful. The tonal response is WIDE. They are bright and punchy, with a crystal clear top end end and a huge thundering bottom end. There is no noise whatsoever, and they respond really well to both tonal and volume input. These pickups have given fresh life and lots of power to my Glarry, it's like a whole new instrument. If you don't mind a bit of routing and wiring, then these bargain pickups are a good upgrade option for you.

My COVID isolation project has been hot-rodding of a Goodwill bass purchase into a respectable instrument on a total investment of less than $150 (bass included). As I needed to buy everything except a bridge and tuners, expensive pickups were out of the question. So I bought 2 of these pickups because they were $13 per at the time and had good reviews. I wired each to play in series, parallel, or outer split coil. You can see it's not finished, but I did get to hear the pickups. I am impressed. Tone is a personal thing, but I think these are pretty nice. When you factor in the price, I wouldn't dream of shelling out big money for a bigger name. Well constructed, 4-wire, plenty loud to me. There may be better out there, but these are great bang for the buck.

I give it a 4/5 stars only because I had to search for the correct wiring. Red is usually hot, but in this case, the white was the hot, I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get enough output.Other than that, I'm completely satisfied with the sound.I would recommend some consistency with wiring and maybe some instructions.

This pickup is a beast! Excellent tight punchy tone with gobs of output. Much better than the dead sounding sterling stock pickup.I bought a egg shape Music Man pickgaurd and put it on a Dean Zone bass. I routed out a cavity for the pickup took out the Dean soapbar pickup and its a killer bass now. My friends son has it now and his bass teacher was blown away by this pickups sound..

Great deal! I ordered 2 of these for my fretless to get a "double buck" configuration. Received them 2 weeks after payment(much faster than order says) They really sound great and deliver that deep/zingy/thick/round/hot tone you want. lots and lots of output. When I received them, the 2 were very very slightly different (magnets on #1 are 1.5mm wider than #2, and the poles are about .5mm further out of the body on #2 than #1. only like a 5% sound difference between the 2 ) but works for me as I have slightly different neck and bridge now. very easy to wire because they follow SD pickup color combos. I have them wired into a 3 band active pre-amp, with each humbucker into has its own mini 3-way switch for parallel/single coil/series choices. I would highly recommend grabbing some of these, with comparable tone at 1/4 the price of entry level SD or Bart music man drop in, I'm glad I did.
