It is unusual to be offered double bass parts and I selected this before really considering where to use it. After trying it out, I am pleased with it. First off, this is for double bass and not cello. The endpin is too large to fit in my current straight pin holder and I do not want to change the assembly out. This holder does fit in my angled (Laborie) hole. This requires the straight pin to be removed or otherwise they would run into each other. I currently have an oak angled endpin and this is a nice adjustable option. The wood endpin is, of course, fixed length.But I found this also fits my EUB (electric upright bass). This is lighter than the aluminum one and has my preferred ball end that also converts to a spike end. The crutch tip was beginning to split so this worked perfectly. The price is also very reasonable.

I got this for use on a custom project/instrument build, and it's really nice. It moves smoothly and locks firmly in place. I put my body weight on it and it held up without collapsing/sliding closed.

Make sure you know what size the hole is before you buy this. Otherwise you may have to modify your instrument. Which really was my only option die to nobody had the exact size I needed.
