Bought 2 other lights for working on architectural plans; returned them because the light was too weak. This "old school" style light is perfect. Able to flex and move to where we need and put in a proper bulb to view all details. Don't bother with the LED ring lights.

Belle lampe, dont le nom Bostitch est imprimé sens dessus dessous (à l'envers) sur l'abat-jour ! Ça ajoute à sa coquetterie !!Les bras de la lampe sont de belles grandeurs, fragiles, mais solides pour un usage normal. J'ai dû quelque peu resserrer les différents boulons, ce qui est facile à faire. Et finalement, je suis super satisfait et je crois qu'elle me rendra d'excellents services. Merci.

This lamp fits perfectly on my desk. The standard clamps do not work because of the edge of the desk so the base works well.

Using it with a grow bulb for my Christmas cactus. I do t have windows in my office so my plant needed a grow bulb. This lamp works perfect for what I needed. The weighted base is heavy enough that it doesn’t tip at all. Sturdy and working great!

I bought this lamp to replace a lamp that looks identical that I used for many years. The switch mechanism finally broke on that one so I needed to get a new lamp. I chose this one, figuring it would be the same. it's not. The clamp is totally useless. It fell off a half dozen times in the first few hours, I had enough aggravation. I went thru the motions of returning this crappy piece of hardware, but thought I'd try it with the clamp from my previous lamp, and now I am keeping it. The older lamp clamp was great, never came off in many years of use. if I didn't have that, this lamp would be returned. It won't stay on any desk unless you screw the clamp to the desk, and I would rather get a lamp with a base than ruin a good desk.

Package came and was much smaller than I had expected. The materials are thin and not exactly robust. That being said it is priced correctly for what it is in my opinion. Comes with the pieces to anchor to a table, but also has the ability to mount vertically. Comes with a bulb, which is always nice. Also it is sized correctly, when I was looking for a lamp like this I was finding many reviews of others having much shorter arm lengths than they appeared.

I purchased a "Damaged Package But Like-New" version of this lamp for a slight discount. The lamp arrived a full day early and despite the battered package it was indeed like new, as promised. All the parts were there. No instructions were provided, but honestly, really? It's a lamp, guys! As advertised, an LED bulb was included.I had another version of this lamp still in service, that I ended up giving to my friend, Vinnie, a retired racing pigeon. That lamp now shines over his nest with a special UV lamp, and he seems very satisfied with the whole setup.I did away with the whole clamp thingy and mounted this new lamp's base directly to my well worn desk, using two screws diagonally in the mounting holes of the lamp's plastic base. I positioned new base to cover the holes from the previous base mounted there. There will be zero issues with this lamp's attachment to my desk! Done Deal!Next came the shade. I didn't care for the way the shade secured to the fixture housing. Any little bump and the shade falls down around the bulb. Annoying as hell; it would drive me buggy over the long haul! I fixed this by twisting the shade into place as intended, and then shooting two self-tapping screws into the "dimples" already stamped into the fixture housing. This secured the shade in place, and with all the silver hardware already on the lamp, the fix looks factory. Again, done deal!The included LED bulb is bright enough, but it has that blue-cast, which I hate. Not only is it ugly, but the blue spectrum of light is the least optimal for your vision. I replaced the bulb with an even brighter, warm-white LED, and all is right with my world.Tip: The switches on these things are cheap and they fail. But LED bulbs run hot at their bases and cool at their tips. So leave the switch on and just give the bulb a half turn, to turn the lamp on and off! Don't crank it down too tight when turning it on. Don't crank it back too little when turning it off. A full half turn for on, and a full half turn for off. No switch failures--ever. Done Deal!The lamp is cheaply made, that's just a fact. But the build is adequate for my use, and it's not ugly. It's worst bugaboos can be easily fixed or worked around. And it is inexpensive. And right now there's not a whole lot else out there. Hell, I just ordered another one!UPDATE: The second "Like-New Repackaged" Lamp (at a slight discount) arrived on time, and did not disappoint, as its condition was ostensibly flawless. The shade on this particular lamp secured tightly enough that no extra measures were necessary. The lamp's base fit the previous lamp's mount well enough, so I was home-free on that account too. The LED bulb that was supposed to be included was missing, but since the supplied bulb has that ugly blue-shifted light, I would've replaced it anyway, so I did not complain. Again, these are not commercial-grade lamps, and are best suited for light duty around the home, though as I type this, Vinnie continues to enjoy his! I'll try to attach a pic, later!RayB

The clamp won't hold onto my desk's ever-so-slightly-rounded edge, it goes on, but won't stay secure and slides off. Likewise, it won't hold to the wire shelving I have nearby. I recall lamps of this type having larger, more substantial clamps. Too late to return as I'd discarded the packaging, I ended up purchasing a weighted base that works well, but now I've spent too much:Phive 7.8" Round Heavy Desk Lamp Base ( Suitable for LK-1 CL-2 Architect Swing Arm LED Desk Lamp).I wish I'd purchased the Bostitch version with the weighted base.Original review:I needed a lamp over my large desk that could reach to light my work space. This lamp does the trick. I recall having lamps in this exact style many years ago; I also recall they were of a heavier construction and would last for years. This lamp is put together the same way but the metal and parts are much lighter. I don't know if it will stand up to any kind of rough use, but hey, I will be gentle with it. I like that the tension springs are black, as is the lamp itself. It came with the brand name BOSTITCH in block letters on the shade -- that is a sticker that peels off easily. There are knobs on the articulating joints to keep it tight and prevent sagging. I notice that the lamp will pop out of the clamp base, due to its light weight, so when adjusting the angle, I will be careful. Another note: I hope the included LED bulb lasts a long time; they have provided an extremely light-weight bulb, again, no sagging. I find the light sufficiently bright and of a pleasant hue.

I LIKE THIS LAMP VERY MUCH. IT HAS AN EASY WAY OF PUTTING IT TOGETHER, AND WORKS JUST FINE
