They provide three to five threads chamfered for general-purpose applications. They are recommended when there is sufficient room on a blind hole and tapping to the bottom of a hole is not critical. Made from heat-treated carbon steel, they are rust- and tarnish-resistant tools that work equally well in plastic drilling applications. The rolled threads are more accurate and cleaner than machined threads. They are tooled to the most exacting specifications to ensure that bolts anchor securely. I had a Toyota frame bolt where the threads were pretty messed up removing the bolt. I initially tried a thread chaser to clean up the threads but wasn't making progress. This tap did the trick. Slow and steady for the win. Great product, a lifesaver when you need it.

Used this to clean up threads to install trailer hitch to vehicle. Without this I would have snapped the bolts. Always use cutting oil.

I had to buy this M12 tap here online, because not even Napa, nor O'reileys, not my local fleet farm store Runnings, nor my not so local big box store Menards even had one in stock.I know the pain in the butt of tapping threads so I went name brand, and the best name brand I could find which was Bosch.It was a reall Mother F'rr to tapp These factory frame nuts on my wife's car, but slow and slow and slow and steady wins the race.Theres 11 years of winter salt corrosion on those frame nuts, and I was able to tap them out with this tool thankfully.

Worked like a charm to chase threads of spark plugs for Infiniti G37. Perfect size and easy to use. Use with bearing grease to catch metal that’s cut out of threads. Very happy with this tool.

I bought this to clear out rusted nuts for a hitch instal, worked perfectly for that. Haven't cut new threads, so I cant speak to that

Used this to clean the threads to install a hitch received on a 2018 Toyota RAV4. Worked well for that purpose. I used a little bit of Tap Magic and went slowly.I had an issue where this particular tap was not compatible with the tap holder that I had from another tap kit, this tap seems to have a less common shank size, but I don't think it is an issue with the tap, rather with my toolkit. I used a vice grip to rotate the tap, which is non ideal, so make sure you have something to hold that tap.This size M12x1.25 is very uncommon in tap kits, so I was happy to find it at a decent price.

After trying PB blaster with wire brushing weldnuts on a 2007 RAV4 without luck, got this M12x1.25 Bosch tap. Definitely took my time and backed out every time it went tight. Used 1/4" ratchet, 1/4 socket, hex socket and extensions instead of a regular tapping tool with this tap. After I was then able to install a trailer hitch with nice clean threads like new.
