Quality Bone

Our quality bone saddles last a long time and produce excellent tone. Inexpensive, lower quality saddles are often overly porous and whitened with harsh chemicals, resulting in weak bone that does not last and produces poor tone.

Expert Support

We help you find the right saddle – length, height, thickness, radius, and compensation for your specific guitar.

A few months ago I purchased a new Gibson Songwriter. As usual, factory action just won't cut it for me, I like my action low but without any fret buzz. I would have cut down the factory bone saddle, but I thought I might get a little better tone if I fitted one myself. I saw the Amazon ad for bridge saddles from MacNichol Guitars and i decided to give one a try. The new saddle arrived quickly and only took a small about of sanding to get a snug installation. When I strung up the new Songwriter I realized that the action was too low. I contacted MacNichol Guitars and told them I wanted to place an order for a slightly higher(1mm) bridge saddle and I needed to know how to pay them. They got back to me within the hour. They told me they would build a 12mm high saddle and put it in the mail that afternoon. They also told me that the new saddle would arrive at NO CHARGE!! My new bridge saddle is installed and now I can honestly say that after playing guitar for 61 years, I've got that one great acoustic we all search for. You don't find customer service like this any more. MicNichol Guitars, you are the best.

Took me about an hour to sand the sides, bottom and ends of the saddle for my J45. Intonation is great. High quality bone plus excellent customer service!

One of the challenges with my stock saddle is that it was kind of loose. This not only reduces surface contact for maximum resonance, but also puts unnecessary sideways pressure on the wood of the bridge. This saddle is beautiful, is ever so slightly oversized so a bit of sanding makes it fit perfectly. It’s top notch in fit, appearance, and sound. Will buy more for other guitars. Totally worth the cost even for my less expensive guitars.

This is the second saddle I have installed. I installed a new saddle on a Martin CEO 7 a couple of days ago because I wanted lower the action. The saddle worked perfectly. Some sanding to get the saddle to slide in and then some more to make the saddle shorter then the orginal and thats all it took. I ordered another to install on my Gibson J45. Again same results. The real Bone material also improved the sound.

Very nice saddle; well made. It was a tad long (maybe 1-2mm) but sanded it down a bit and fits nice and snug in my J-15. Well worth the money.

I have known Michael and MacNichol for many years. I have long valued his professional opinion. And I always buy my bone saddles from him. They always fit very well with little work needed to get exactly the right seating into the bridge. Exceptional quality, customer service that goes above and beyond. And supporting a small business. Reason enough for me to continue to buy from Macnichol.

I orded this satin saddle fom my Gibson SJ200 Rosewood & before I received the product the seller contacted me via email & asked what height I need for my SJ200. Michael of MacNichol Guitars (the seller) determined that the saddle would not have the height needed for my guitar & offered me a beautiful polished bone saddle. He shipped the polished saddle before I received the satin saddle. I really appreciated the fact that he emailed & kept in contact with me. I have to say that this transaction has been the absolute best transaction I've experienced on Amazon. Michael went way above what would be expected during this transaction. I can't thank him enough. OK so it's product review time. The satin saddle I received was beautiful & flawless. I didn't drop it into my guitar but can only say that it is very high quality. A couple of days later I received the polished bone saddle plus 2 bone & 1 buffalo horn bridge pin samples. The bridge pins were beautiful as is the the polished saddle. I sanded down the saddle with the sand paper included in the package & was able to shape it in under 20 minutes. After dropping the saddle in & restringing the guitar I strummed a G chord & could not believe the improvement in sound. The saddle opened the sonic bliss of my guitar with a nice deep chrisp tone with beautiful harmonic overtones. If you are looking to improve the tone of your guitar, you owe it to yourself to check out the MacNichole Guitars polished bone saddle. It's absolutely beautiful & does exactly what I needed it to do, turn my Super Jumbo into a tone monster. I could't be any happier. Thank you for everything Michael. I will definitely be a return customer!
