I attach this holder to the top bar of my MTB and 99% of the time it holds my phone securely even when I bounce up and down steep trails.Yes, if you’re not careful in strapping the phone in properly, it could come off the holder. But I imagine it’d be the same for other holders too.

I had bought my wife one of these a while back because the hard plastic one’s was accidentally calling 911 and always slipping. My new bike tracks my info and when I just touch the screen it displays the information. So I decided to get one also.ProsIt holds the phone in place without any issues. It is built well and we have had no issues. We do only ride on the road so it may be different on MBT’s.Very easy to install with no tools and you can easily switch it from bike to bike.It fits multiple size handle bars.ConsIt’s not the best looking phone holder but I’m not taking away any stars for that.ConclusionIt’s easy, it’s versatile, it works well so what else could you ask for. For less than $25 it’s hard to beat.

This is very sturdy rubber with the right amount of flex. I’ve taken a few spills without any damage to my phone. Easy to install.Update: the rubber failed. 😪

I bought this phone mount this past summer to replace another mount that was mechanically more complex (and broke during a long ride), and used it for several months on many 40+ mile rides. The use of rubber (with no moving parts, springs or clamps) results in a mount that is easy to use, durable and not prone to failure due to the normal stresses or wear and tear. Highly recommended.

I had gone through 2 handlebar mounts in 1 year before getting this one. I only ride on the street or smooth gravel trails, so it's not like they were taking a tone of vibrations. The plastic on those other mounts broke at a ball-pivot and on the clamp itself. So I went through 2 in just 1 year... I have a protector case on my phone, so thankfully it was OK after it flew off my bike for the last time, hopefully. No more mechanical mounts for me. This one is a simple grippy rubber material and holds the phone very well. It doesn't slide, and there are no moving parts that will crack or break. Can't believe that I didn't just go with something like this sooner. The phone sits parallel with the stem about 1/2" above it. You can't angle the phone though, but it's well worth the sacrifice. It's not like I'm not watching Netflix like some of those other cyclists...

I think the Bone Tie 3 has been the most effective phone holder of the several I’ve tried so far. The rubber strap snaps right around the gooseneck. The mount is compact and fits in the small space available to it, and my phone has never bounced loose, after a season of riding my usual 20 mile loop, which has quite a few bumpy sections.I was using someone else’s phone mount for the first time last Fall, when my brand-new phone bounced out and skittered across the gravel. So I’ll be living with a deep scratch right in the middle of the face, for the next few years. Thanks to this holder, my phone has remained in otherwise excellent condition for my subsequent rides.I like the way it safely grips my phone, but I wish it would work a little better on my bike’s gooseneck - I didn’t realize the tubing was so far from being circular in cross-section. The phone always works its way into leaning sideways as I ride, and I have to keep straightening it. I realize now, it’s a single point of contact, which is pretty unstable. The handlebar is circular, but the mount doesn’t work in that direction. When I want to stop and take a picture, I find it awkward to get the phone quickly out and back in place, without accidentally pushing buttons or touching the screen, which can cause all sorts of undesired behavior, like stopping my phone from tracking my ride, or starting the advisor. If I take it slowly and carefully, it goes on just fine. I realize that might be the price I have to pay for this kind of a holder.

First, the good: this is cheap and a snap to install. The specs mean it can handle larger phones, even when they're in a protective case.Unfortunately, there are two significant issues with this that are making me look for a replacement after only a few weeks.First, when riding over anything bumpier than a suburban street, the mount doesn't have enough grip to keep the phone from sliding out of position. When riding on a rail trail, I had to keep repositioning the mount every 30 minutes or so. The clasp is as tight as it can possibly be.Second, my Galaxy S9 is in a hard protective case (Supcase). It's well within the published size limits for this holder. But it's been less than two weeks since I purchased this and the phone has popped out of the mount three times while riding. One of the bottom corners will snap back behind the phone, leaving the phone supported by only one mount. If I catch it in time it's easy to just reattach it -- but if I don't, one bump and my phone is going to fall out.I'm not doing any extreme offroading or mountain biking or anything. 90% of my rides are on suburban streets and well-maintained rail trails (mixtures of pavement, concrete, packed dirt, and packed gravel) with an average moving speed of 12-13 MPH. This is probably okay for someone who does slow rides and sticks to paved roads, but I don't trust it on anything longer. I'm searching for a replacement now.
