This works very well to preserve old paper music books. Unlike other punches I have tried, the size guide can be pushed further out than letter size. You do need to note: it is a manual punch and you cannot punch too many pages at a time (I do about 5, but it says you can do 12). You also need to remove the glue on the spine of the book. But with just a bit of effort, you can add a comb binding and save your favorite old music books--or bind something new!

As long as you don't try and punch more than 10 pages at a time, it works perfect. Have done hundreds of pages with this and it actually works really well. Most of the negative reviews are people try to put too many pages in and breaking it. It's time consuming but also isn't $600 like a real binding machine.

I think that the paper size markings (A4, A5) are not those that are used in North America. Finding the right place to position the paper to have the punched holes centered on the page is difficult.Because the adjustment of the Letter margin is a Phillips screw on the bottom of the machine, we must turn the machine onto its back or side to access the screw, hold the machine steady, hold the alignment part in the right place so that the screw can be tightened securely. To do that properly needs four hands. The PB 55 Comb Binding Machine that had to be replaced was far superior to this BNC U12.

For the price I am very satisfied. It punches about 15 sheets at a time. There’s adjustments on the side for the distance of the holes from the edge of the page. There is also a tray to catch all the scraps. Just make sure to empty the tray often, as I had that jammed full and it was very difficult to open the tray after that.

I have used this binder to make a few booklets and I have found it easy to use and it has always performed as it should. It is a very good value for the money that I paid for it.

I DONT USUALLY WRITE REVIEWS BUT HAD TO FOR THE AWESOME BINDER.BECAUSE I DO A LOT OF BINDING FOR MY MINISTRY AND CHURCH I NEEDED A BINDING MACHINE THAT WAS EASY TO USE AND STURDY DUE TO HAVING ARTHRITIS IN MY HANDS. I HAVE USED OTHERS BUT THIS IS BY FAR THE EASIEST TO USE. I DONT HAVE TO USE TOO MUCH FORCE AT ALL TO PUNCH THROUGH 7 PAGES AT A TIME AND IT EASILY PUNCH THROUGH LAMINATED PAGES. I HAVE NO PAIN IN MY HANDS WHEN USING THIS MACHINE AS I HAVE MADE 2 BOOKS WITH 60 - 75 PAGES EACH. THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY WORK A PAIN FREE EXPERIENCE.

This thing is the best thing ever. I have done a bunch of research. I’ve looked at tons of machines. If you are an at home crafter or an occupational therapist such as myself and write lots of social stories, core boards, etc. and want something better than a notebook, this is it. It is so easy to use and it’s perfect. As one person noted before, the hole at the top may cut off, but it’s easily trimmed off. This is the bomb Diggity. Such a great value.

Avoid his machine! Spend the extra $$ to get a quality unit. Though it is solid & easy to use, the punch alignment & margins don't coordinate. Let me try try explain... using A4 paper (19 punch) the guide is set for A4. 19 & 1/4 holes are punched. There is a partial hole cut at the edge of the right side of the paper. This can not be corrected.

For the price, it's a good machine. Overall I would rate it decent, which would be three stars, but the low price bumps the rating up one more star, because I don't believe one should expect a brilliant product for such a discount price. For specifics: The page guide isn't able to be adjusted to avoid an extra partial hole being punched on one end for letter-size paper. It does have an open end that would allow larger than letter-size pieces to be punched. It can accommodate combs for up to 21 holes. I'm not sure how long it will last, as the comb-opening mechanism has noticeable friction. Our use is light, so I expect we will get our money's worth from it.Compared to a higher-priced machine, like a Fellowes, this is clunky and the design isn't as convenient. There is one handle for both functions, which means you have to get all of the pages punched before you start putting them on the rings. If you are producing multiple booklets, this would be a slowdown. Getting the paper in position for punching is not always easy. I have inserted paper, which felt like it was pushed all the way back, only to find that the holes ended up getting punched in a slight diagonal at the edge. Having to be vigilant about that is annoying. If you are on a tight budget and will have light usage, or need a machine that can accommodate larger than letter-size paper, this machine is fine. If you are okay with spending $90+ more and/or have more than light use, get the higher-priced machine. Look for one that has vertical punching and allows for the comb to be open while you punch. Also, having a handle that folds away is a good feature.

This little champ gets the job done, and for much less money than the other guys!!I took a chance on this inexpensive binding machine after I noticed there was a nice clean gap on the end that would allow punching paper larger than US letter. I needed that for the many music books I have that have a regular glued binding. Looked into a binding machine after my local office supply store stopped providing this service. I actually took delivery on two other machines before deciding to try this one. The first one was twice the price, and arrived with a broken margin control. The second one was 5X the price, and could not punch anything larger than US letter (and it’s the one with a 21-spine binder, but only 19 blades for punching holes).Yes, it’s cheap, but it’s got the goods where it’s needed, like using metal for the margin control. Most of the other cheap-o units use plastic which won’t survive shipping, never mind medium house hold or small office use. I bound two large books in my first use, and need to get different sized spines for the others. I am very psyched with the professional looking end result!!
