Should have ordered one of these years ago, this really helps with wood carving concave surfaces. The abrasive is not very aggresive on these, but just right for smoothing out where you already carved, Once you smooth over your carved area, you can then skim back over it with the gouge in a different direction. Works really well for this purpose. But don't expect it to be a power carving tool that will do all of the work for you, you still need to carve with a gouge and then also smooth with this grinding tool; and then carve some more. Very happy with these results.

I use these to smooth the insides of gourds I work on. Snaps right into the drill. Leaves a smooth, clean surface with very little effort. I could not do my gourd bowels without them.

I bought for some 3/4" holes I was drilling into the side of my boat. Drilled the holes and then smoothed the gel coat edge with these. Did exactly as I desired.
