Can't say enough good about this unit. It was well package, came with everything but Fuel! Put together in a few mins. It was perfect in size, the weight is heavy but not over the weight lift for a mid age male. This system is durable as it has withstood a lot of usage. This machine was used to compact a driveway (millings) apx 1/4 mile in length. The ease of use is wonderful once started you just lightly push/pull it, the vibration will keep this machine moving as need! Nothing bad to say about it. I have also used this to fill low spots in my yard and 'grade'.

For the price, it was about the same as renting on for the time I needed. Plus, if I do any other project like a building addition or driveway build up, I will be prepared.I recommend using 93 octane in all small engine tools and equipment to keep the carb clean and engine running perfectly for years to come. 87 octane has a short shelf life, especially if it has ethanol in it, as ethanol will start to go bad as early as 1 month. I didn't even use over a gallon, how much more money is that? so do yourself a favor for future use.

It is convenient, but will compact 1-2 inch layers at a time. I was compacting a 4 inch layer of soil and cement mix for a water tank. I tried to do it in one shot. It compacted the top and the rest was still loose. I dug the filler back out and started again. I compacted the mix in one inch layers. It worked great. It was very time consuming. The pad was 10X10X4 feet deep for a for an 8 foot diameter tank. I had hoped for more depth.

The machine is about 2/3s the size of a commercial rental unit such as a Wacher brand, but for light commercial/residential use, it is excellent at 1/4 the cost. The motor started on the first pull and the compactive results were solid. Flipping the wheels under the deck makes it easy to move around, and it is light enough to lift into a vehicle at around 130 pounds. I wish I would have bought this long ago, as my occasional projects requiring this were always met with $100+ rentals and the hassle of fetching and returning. Very happy with the unit after first use. At $475 delivered through Prime, I paid for a third of this through rental avoidance. Will have it paid by next week's end with the spring projects on the horizon.

Simply put, you aren't going to get a better compactor for this price. I initially rented a compactor (that retails for $2,500) for $100/day. I quickly realized, if I can find a decent compactor for cheap, I have enough projects lined up to pay itself off real quick. This compactor isn't without it's flaws, but the price and quality of compaction outshines any minor issues. Double check the bolts (many will be slightly loose), use Mercon III transmission fluid in the exciter (it comes empty, but only needs 80ml (very little fluid)). Tighten the throttle to keep it from slipping. Throw some motor oil in the engine and top it off with gas. Then fuss with the annoying wheel setup and hooks. Once done with all that enjoy your awesome compactor and cross off another project from your list. With all the imperfections, I'd still recommend and buy this again.

I bought this because I needed to compact a job I was doing (I'm a General Contractor). I was hoping to atleast get a few jobs out of this unit. The first time firing it up it worked flawlessly, however, turning it off to talk with the customer for roughly 2 minutes was where the problem started.Firing it back up the unit seemed to run rough and start shaking to the point of unscrewing the muffler shield and the air filter housing. I screwed them back on and checked a few more bolts and found it also knocked a spring loose on the carburetor, so I fixed that. I fired it back up and it seemed to run "ok" for 2 more run cycles that day.The next day we showed up and started the rest of the dirt work. I checked the oil and filled it with fuel and went to fire it up again but after about 10 pulls of not starting I started checking the machine again and couldn't find anything wrong. I tried to start it again and it finally started after another 10 or so pulls. After letting it warm up I gradually increased the throttle and it started miss firing. I turned it off to check the fuel thinking maybe there is water or dirt in the fuel. I turn the Gas valve off and removed the bowl on the carburetor and found metal shavings in the bowl, I have never seen that in a carburetor before. I cleaned it all out and took the carburetor off to clean all the ports. I put it all back together and it fired up on about the 8th pull this time. And after running another few minutes started running rough again. Conclusion, I wish I had spent the extra money and bought a name brand compactor and not wasted my time or money with this one.

After comparing price and features for several different brands and models, I settled on this unit. I love the transport wheels. Some have remarked that they didn't stay up while using, but I have had no issues with this. They may not have tightened the bolts up enough to add resistance to the arms. Unfortunately, the box must have spent most of it's journey on it's side or upside down because when I opened the shipping box, oil had leaked out of the engine all over the base including the belts. Took a while to clean it but no long term harm done. The other issue I had was the gasket for the carb was not installed properly. I had to completely remove the carb, fix the gasket and then reassemble. How this made it past their QC is beyond me. BH tech support has been been very responsive and offered me a credit for having to clean and fix the gasket issue. Time will tell for long term quality, but my initial impression after running it for about 3 hours is it's a decent machine and a great value.
