I'm a shipwright, we use chainsaws nearly every day. We've gotten some solid cuts out of this jig through doug fir, but when put against ipe or live oak the bar slips or the attachment mechanism spins after 6 inches of cutting or so. If Big Foot designed a more secure attachment or better yet, a line of bars- that would solve the problem. We have machined a little block and tapped it into a bar to sit snug in the small big foot jig clamp, then we put a small wedge in betwen the clamping mechanism to prevent the saw from rotating forward cutting into the jig (which has happened numerous times. Over all- good idea but poorly designed product.

This is an excellent tool. I bought this tool for timber framing. A very good alternative to a timber framing saw and much less expensive. The angles are very precise and there's no need for cleanup with a belt sander. The cuts are good as is for finishing work. It takes a little bit to get used to, and you must work with a guide. The only modification I've made is I placed a handle on the table furthest from the angle adjuster.
