It's some seriously heavy-duty material. I might switch the rubber out for zip ties, though, because I have a hard time getting the rubber things it comes with through the holes. It's easier for me to cut as many zip ties as I need to un-mold, which I suspect will only be two with the rest acting like hinges, but zip ties are cheap and simple.The surface of the inside is smooth. There's nothing to "fix" or "clean up" from the manufacturing, so this mold is ready to use right out of the box.Concrete pillar bases and caps aren't cheap, so this mold is going to produce the value of its price tag pretty darn quick, obviously. Being able to fill the center with foam or leave the right size cavity for a post is convenient for flexibility of use, and I'm all good with reducing weight and materials anywhere they aren't necessary. Since this mold comes in sections, it can also be placed around an existing pillar or post and poured directly.I have to say it, this thing wouldn't get crushed if it got a done bags of concrete thrown on top of it. Okay, yeah, enough of them might eventually bend it out of shape, but it would take a lot, along with heat and a lot of time left like that. It's obviously made to handle tough conditions.Even though I don't really love those black rubber jobbers because I have a hard time getting them through the holes, once you get them through, they aren't going to let go until you make them let go. I'll use big, heavy-duty zip ties instead, and I'm certain that the set-up is going to far out-last my ability to lift a bag of concrete, and probably outlast me, as well. If I dinged up or roughed up the inside surface, I could probably smooth it right out again with a light touch and a heat gun. This mold is extremely well made and looks to me like it'll easily last a lifetime. ...maybe several people's lifetimes.

This mold is just the right size, it also has great detail. It is made heavy duty and clips together tight. It can be used to make the base of a piller or you can paid it with other molds to make planters
