I have been doing Marine Electrical for over 20 years now. This is the best product I have found for tank level monitoring. They are very accurate and versatile. Very easy to program and install, even for the most novice marine electrician. If you give these less than 5 STARS it is your own fault as these are bullet proof and accurate. If you find yourself replacing these over and over again, you might want to looks at your vessels DC & AC Systems and start doing some fault finding. As great as these are they are still a piece of electronics and will only take so much abuse from ground faults and or shorts. GREAT PRODUCT BEP!!!

I put 8 of these senders in my boat and 2 BEP TLM meters when I built it 9 years ago. They work fine for diesel, water and black water tanks, but for only a short time. I have probably replaced 20 of these senders over the years and at the price they are I could have retired. Trouble is to replace the senders with a different brand eg Vetus, I have to buy new meters (>$600) and make them fit where this one fits. What a drama. Do not buy them.

I decided to go all-in on this sensor. I not only had to purchase the sensor, but also the TS1PK programming kit which enables you to program the sensor with the output type and the maximum/minimum depth readings as well as the non-linear scaling. It was looking like it was going to be a pretty accurate fuel tank sensor (supposedly has a 2mm depth resolution)- unlike the usual tank sensors found in the marine industry. My previous tank sensor was the float/reed switches in a stainless tube design which has only 20 steps of reading from empty to full. Also, traditional sensors have dead zones at the bottom and top whereas the TS-1 needs just a thin layer of fluid on the bottom.Well, I hooked it up and installed on my boat tank. Programming and installation was pretty straightforward. However, after I got it hooked up, the fuel level reading on my gauges was bouncing around quite a bit. I hooked up my multimeter and watched the signal output line and saw the voltage jumping from 1.8-2.0 volts at a regular interval, coinciding with the fluctuations on the gauge. I spoke to tech support at BEP (they were pretty helpful) and was told that TS-1 has difficulties sometimes when interfacing to a digital gauge sensor.Essentially, the TS-1 does not have a true resistive output- it is an emulated resistance which doesn't always play well with the low current designs of digital gauge sensors. I think it would work well with a traditional analog fuel gauge, but don't count on it playing well with your NMEA2000 (N2K) gauge system.A bit of experimenting revealed the TS-1 needs >80ma of current from the gauge/N2K converter to provide a stable resistive output. It turns out the EP-65R only provides about 12ma at most. TS-1 also has a 0-5 volt output mode, but that unfortunately is not compatible with the Lowrance EP-65R or similar device. You could purchase a 0-5v N2K converter, but that was getting too deep into it in terms of complexity and cost. I ended up purchasing a new 19" float/reed switch sender by KUS (WEMA) and that worked fine- I don't get nearly the resolution of the TS-1, but the reading is stable.I hope this saves you some time in figuring out whether or not the TS-1 will work for you....there's not much info on the net about these. I spent quite a few hours only to find out it didn't work for my situation. If you've got an analog fuel gauge or a 0-5 volt input, I think you'll love it.
