Needed to replace our older Krupps espresso maker, and this unit works much better than the old model....better than expected. User friendly, and makes great froth for cappuccino!

I bought this to replace my mr. Coffee espresso maker. I thought I would try it because it had a few more bars pressure. However the things that it did not have, such as the ability to make espresso sort of outweighed that. most importantly, the espresso turns out like mud. I've tried everything I can think of. Still mud. Also frustrating, was that all the different pieces and parts were extremely difficult to use. Please bear with me as I don't know the name of all of these. first of all adding the water, there's no way to see how much water you're adding unless you pre measure it. There's no little window. So please be aware that you're going to have to measure it, or use the little pot that comes with it. Next is the way you add the espresso grounds. They go in side a little scoop like thing that screws into the top. this is a typical way that some of the under $100 espresso machines work. And normally they work very easily and very well. And although it's supposed to screw into the toh, it's extremely difficult to get it lined up, and very difficult to actually get it to connect. There's also a little thumb holder that you use to be able to empty out the espresso grounds from that piece. That is inserted into two little holes on the handle. And continually falls off. I've never had these problems before so I'm not really sure what to call these pieces.Even the part the littlest espresso pot sits on doesn't work right. it's a little drain, that sits on top of a little pan,. You supposed to be able to take it off and clean it out. However the little drain has to line up 3 exact little lIps . Which I have yet to be able to figure out how to do. I have yet to be able to make a decent little pot of espresso. When after much effort and aggravation, I get the thing together, and filled with espresso grounds, it produces a nice little pot of mud. I don't know if it's because the little strainer is so much smaller than the adapter, or if the whole machine is just defective. but I'm returning it and going back to mr. Coffee. that one worked well for 10 years. And I'm assuming it'll work well for another 10 when I buy a new one.

Really nice little coffee maker. Easy to use and makes great cappuccinos. We chose it because it had the ability to make up to 4 cups at one time. We actually only make two cups at a time but wanted to be able to use the 4 cups amount of coffee beans because we like our coffee strong. We previously had a very similar coffee maker for many years and the only reason for four stars rather than 5 is that the previous coffee maker was sturdier, making us wonder if this one will last as long. If it does stand up then it should be at 5 star.

If you like espresso/lattes and don't want to spend a fortune, this little gadget is really, really worth having! Can you spend $3K and get a better espresso maker? I'll bet you can. But if you are a normal coffee addict like me, this is a huge treat you don't have to feel guilty about! It costs about what I spend on 6 coffees at a shop. And I'm pretty picky about my coffee. Not a true expert, but a darned picky coffee fan. Also, I hate complex cleanup and this is very easy to clean - run three pieces under some water on occasion. And wipe off the milk steamer thing - I use a clorox wipe for that. There are a couple of cons to this, but again, for the price it is worth it. The maker is cheaply made. If mine last a year, I'll be tickled and order another. I expect to have the little knob to break - nothing a small vise grip won't replace. The power light is dim and sporadic - not useful. And I called support when I thought it wasn't working because the power light wasn't on. That was a complete waste of time. Just read the simple directions, ignore the power light, and enjoy a really yummy latte at home for a reasonable price. (side note: no one paid me for this review, darn it.)

Over all for a small expresso maker this is a good product for the price and better than any keugul out there. While I received mine missing the caraf and do have some quams about the over all product out lined below the good out way the bad and leave this to be a 4 star rating. If given a choise over this, a keugal, or a regular brewer. This espresso machine beats them all hands down. The Pros: - Easy to clean - Very light weight and study construction - Able to do a single cup of expresso or more if one uses the same 3oz cup filled to the top for the water to brew. Just turn on the brew, place your expresso cup under the spout and when the cup is filled switch off then vent steam through the frother. - Very good expresso is made - Comes with its own tamper and correct sized coffee spoon - Takes about 5oz to brew coffee and have enough steam for milk - No k-cups ever. Any coffee grounds work. The cons: - Steamer nosle is oddly close to the body making it hard to use anything but the narrowest of vessles while steaming - Seems to be designed (or at lease only documentated ) for use from 6oz and up brews (see Pros for how I figured out around this) - Cleaning the nosel is a little awkward around the metel to plastic transition where foam tends to collect at times - A little slow on the heat up time comes in about 60-90 seconds.

my old delonghi espresso maker succumbed to old age so i ordered a Proctor Silex 12 coffeemaker that left much to be desired in terms of taste so now being slightly impoverished a didnt have another $70+ to get a bar espresso machine so i ordered this. honestly when i took it out of box it feels so lightweight, so flimsy almost like a kids kitchen toy but i have to say it makes a decent cup of strong coffee. their four cups is approx 8 ounces of water. when it comes out of drip it seems hot enough but with a small amount of creamer i have to warm it up for 20 seconds in microwave. i cant attest to the frother as i just use creamer.is this worth $35...no...will i buy it again....no. but in lieu of santa bringing me a bar espresso machine (which aint gonna happen unless my cats get a hold of my credit card) it serves its purpose for now.january 9 2015 upatedso its been two months since i got this and i gave it one more star. it makes absolutely delicious coffee, it works on even cheap cafe bustelo coffee, & when used with coffeemate italian sweet creme creamer. yes you do have to warm it in microwave but 30 seconds and done. i also bought another little filter basket so that if i want another cup afterwards i dont have to wash the used basket and i just rinse the holder. i still dont use steam wandoctober 16, 2015still working great. wonderful little machine
