A little flimsy and sometimes awkward to get the rod out but work ok for the price

For plastic these are rock solid and great functionality for my boat.Have a couple chrome ones in front and these two in back. They are like quick release when we are not fishing.Love them:

Bought these for my husband for our pontoon. He loves them! Great quality and functionality. Mounts great on boat, and can quickly pull rod out to reel in the big ones!

I wanted to like these rod holders, but had to send them back. I wanted to use the 4 bolt adapter to mount these rod holders onto my fold up fishing chair. I found out that you can't orient the rod holder to be inline with the 4 bolt adapter that I have shown in my picture. You can only orient the holder to be perpendicular to the 4 bolt adapter because there is a tongue and groove nib molded into each of the two components. I have tried to show this in my 3 pictures. Mounting it onto my chair in this fashion would have had my fishing rod pointing 90' from the direction that I would be sitting in my chair. There are also flush mount adapters that come with these things, but I didn't look at them before sending the product back. It seems like these rod holders & 4 bolt adapters are really made to attach to your boat's stern or side rails, not chairs like the one that I have.Having said all of this, I do think that this product is well made and suitable for freshwater fishing. As long as you can mount them in a way that would be useable for you, I think they are a good value. For my application, I will have to keep looking.

MIGHT PULL OUT

The holder works for spinning reels but not baitcast reels.

These fit the bill for the kind of fishing I plan to do. Maybe not sturdy enough for some types of saltwater fishing but I believe they will be fine for the bass and crappie fishing in local lakes that I do.I did not like the fact that they are not made to swivel on a horizontal plane but only vertically. This was easy to fix with a dremel (or round file would do). To explain, there is a groove in the shaft that mates up with a raised portion inside the base that the shaft fits into. Once in place, it is locked horizontally. By removing the raised nib, you can raise the holder up out of the base a half inch or so, rotate it to the desired position and drop it back down. This seems so obvious that I have to think that it was just an oversight.I haven't used them on my boat yet but I do not foresee any issues with them.

Product seems well made (haven't installed yet) and comes with multiple install options. Price is outstanding for this. Would pay way more with other brand names and pay for each installation adapter separately. Good value.
