After dipping my toe into the ocean of analog synths with a Stylophone Gen X-1 last year, I wanted to dive deeper into sound creation with something that could connect to my MIDI keyboard as well as my computer if/when needed, without taking up a lot of space or requiring an investment in a fully modular rig. The Crave does all of that at a very modest price point, and it sounds great. Documentation in the included pamphlet is minimal, but I quickly found dozens of helpful tutorials for beginners, and I have been loving the journey so far. Would happily recommend it to anyone with a MIDI keyboard and a bit of musical background, who wants to start learning analog synthesizers but who isn't sure where to begin.

Me encantó!.

I have had the Moog Mother 32 for years and wanted another one, but the $699 price put me off. However, after buying the Crave (mine cost $199) I found it is made well and has practically the same workflow as the Mother 32. It is a great buy.As for sound, there are minor differences in the Crave and Mother 32 oscillators and filters. The Crave sounds a bit "darker", while the Mother 32 sounds "snappier", but they actually complement each other well. The MIDI Out is a feature that the Crave has and I have long wished the Mother 32 had, too. The desktop-only design of the Crave is probably the only design quirk of the Crave that I don't like (the Mother 32 is Eurorack compatible). But overall, the Crave is a nice desktop synth that is easy to use and sounds good.

I have been using synthesizers since I was in high school. I have been wanting to get into modular synthesis but have been put off by the price. This is a great product to get your feet wet with modular synthesis. Its very inexpensive and sounds great.

Cool small powerful unit- for the price. But, like everything from across the globe, no instructions, or if they are, you have to be able to read Mandarin.

The quality of this synth is excellent!!! feels like solid metal!! the patch bay is what makes the crave an awesome synth!! my favorite thing to do is to used the external audio Input and run my drum machines through it. If you are looking for an Analog mono synth with options for experimentations for a cheap price this is it. Working with the synth functions such as saving patterns and adding glide etc is not easy because is not obvious. you will have to sit down and read the manual or watch the many YouTube tutorials available. Eventually after so many try's you will remember the shift key combination. Also Behringer has their synth tools software that allows you to do the sequencing in the computer which is really easy is, however is not a Realtime sequencer editor (which means you can't have the sequencer running and tap the notes on the computer and automatically hear the changes in Realtime) you draw the notes and then press the "store" button in order for the computer to send the changes to the synth. One thing I notice is that the changes to the sequence will not update until you power down the unit and turn it back on (unless I am doing something wrong, that is the only way I got it to work). I have no complaints about it because is an Analog synth and just having the options to save your sequences is excellent. now when you are sequencing manually without the computer saving the sequence the changes are immediate and no need to power down the unit. for the Price This synth is amazing. Behringer gets 5 stars!!!!!!

I don't think I've turned it off since it came. What a wonderful time-waster! May actually be musical, too.Impressively built, sounds (to me) identical to Moog Mother, and very priceworthy. Controls are silky smooth and somehow the thing never "pops" when switches are flipped, etc. There is no background noise that I can hear. The 24dB ladder filter can self-oscillate and be played with the keys. The sequencer buttons are very click-positive, which is OK with me because I use an external keyboard for actually playing and just use the sequencer buttons when actually programming the sequencer. (Your ext. key controller can be used to enter notes but the other step parameters need to be entered at the CRAVE itself.) It responds to the velocity and pitch bend signals from the key controller.Manual is skimpy but there are some excellent demos and tutorials on YT. At first I thought six patch cables were too many because I could only figure out how to use 2 of them, but now, after watching some demos, I have used up to 5 at once to good effect. Still haven't figured out a 6-patch that makes sense though!I have it daisy-chained with an ancient Yamaha QY10 sequencer, playing the 30 instrument presets in the QY10 with the CRAVE sequencer and an old Oxygen8v2 key controller. My housemate thinks I've been replaced with an alien.
