What's awesome, and different, about this is the drip pan holder. This contraption makes it so much easier to 'mount' the chicken in an upright position and have it stay that way. Insert the can into the chicken, slide the can onto the sleeve on the tray, put it on the hot grill. I have yet to perfect cooking veggies in the tray, but this is a nice addition to cooking my beer can chicken.

I used it for the first time. I put the chicken directly on the beer can. I was worried the insert would make the chicken touch the lid of the grill. It worked great. I’ll be using it a lot this summer.

I'd been wanting to try "beer can chicken" for a while, but was a bit leery about using an actual can - Who knows what happens when aluminum cans get that hot, and I assume the inks/paint on the label might react with the heat too? I know lots of people have been doing it that way for ages, but I'd rather not take any chances. This is a great alternative, it's more stable on the grill than just using a can because of the wide base, and I can cook veggies at the bottom as well. And I can throw the whole thing in the dishwasher at the end of the day. I'm also going to try using it as a stand for chickens in my smoker.

I got this one after pouring over reviews. It’s great quality it’s sturdy - easy to clean and easy to cook with. I’ve used it be chicken and just the bottom pan to roast veggies and some fish it’s a versatile pan

Instead of sticking a chicken on a beer can and balancing on a hot barbecue grill, it's much better to use this thing--it's safer, it's much more functional, and you get better results. You pour the beer (or anything else) into the cup that's welded to the grill basket, mount the chicken on the cylinder with the holes in it, then place the cylinder in the cup. The beer turns into vapor and goes through the holes into the chicken--giving the chicken much better exposure to the vapor than it would get through the top hole of a beer can. Meanwhile, you get a grill basket that holds the fixings you might want to barbecue along with the chicken. This thing is fairly heavy, seems very well made, and gives better heat distribution compared to dumping things on the grill. Looks to me like it will last for years. Well designed, with a tilted sidewall and handles. The holes are perfectly sized and placed.

I have 2 other chicken upright roasters that are constructed of thick metal wire. I typically place those devices into a small square baking pan to catch the juices. I saw this become available, appreciated the design, and ordered it right away. The product is made of stainless steel and arrived well-packaged and includes 2 parts. The round pan itself has handles, a center tube, and a second perforated cylinder that's narrower on one end. The cylinder fits on a beer can and then into a chicken's cavity to hold it upright. The bottom of the pan is also perforated so, if you're going to bake in the oven, you will still need to place this inside another larger pan and maybe elevate it somehow. The pan is large enough to hold a decent amount of vegetables to roast with a chicken if you choose. It's advertised as a "beer can" chicken roaster. I have read about that recipe for years but, never tried it. After receiving this product, that's the first thing I did. I went to the grocery store and bought a large roasting chicken and a six-pack of canned beer. I will say, I don't know what the beer does but the flavor was yummy. The next time I am going to use the pan over charcoals on the grill and continue to experiment with different recipes. Its design works well for the advertised function.
