My old jacket I bought from Dadant finally needed to be replaced as there were several areas where the mesh screen had torn away from the fencing/hood. after duct taping the holes several times, it was getting ridiculous how much tape was on the veil, and they were still getting inside the veil occasionally. Clearly time to replace it. :-)Overall it's a good jacket, and at $50, it's about $100 less than the Dadant jacket. The zippers seem to be slightly lower quality and they don't have the rings on them like the Dadant jacket, which makes it easier to zip/unzip with gloves on, but that's pretty minor when I'm saving $100. So I would recommend this jacket to others. The only thing I can't rate yet, is the long term durability. My last jacket lasted me 12+ years. hopefully I get at least half that out of this new jacket, and if I get 12 again, that will be fantastic.

Keeps the bees out, and zippers so far hold up to the test.

Fits well for my >6foot height. No bee stings during a 30min inspection even though a few tried. Highly recommend this jacket for its quality, visibility and durability. Pricepoint is also great for the product quality you receive.

My last two bee jackets have failed because of cheap zippers. This one has brass zippers and the whole jacket seems better made than any I have owned. I'll give it a good workout and if it lives up to my expectations I'll be ordering more from Forrest Beekeeping.

This is my first and only bee suit so I have no prior experience and nothing to compare it with. That being said I really like it. The first time I used it was to install a new hive. The bees arrived two days late (thanks to usps) without food and on a eighty degree day. They were angry and some tried to sting me. The suit did its job flawlessly. It seals nicely so no bees got in and the stingers hardly stuck in the suit. The waist is elastic and velcro and the only place I'm concerned a bee can get in, so I tuck it into my jeans. Overall the suit is comfortable and well made. The fencing style head net is the only thing I'm not sure about yet. It's not bad but cuts down my peripheral vision, and sometimes I have to pull it away from my face since it will tend to squeeze together and start to press on my face which then makes it start rubbing my nose on the screen. I didn't Intend to buy this type of head net but this suit was so inexpensive and highly rated that I couldn't resist, besides who doesn't need to save a few extra bucks for $5 a gallon gas. The suit is great just decide which type of head protection you will find more suitable for your needs.

Wanted something that was a bit quicker to get into than my full bee suit for when visiting the society apiary. This was perfect.

Very pleased with the tunic - a good quality cotton top. Looking forward to the seeing how the bees have come through the winter. Lynn

After looking at various bee jackets, including those 2x cost and reading reviews I ordered this in XL. A friend of mine had 3 hives, and I asked if I could help harvest honey. Being a honey harvest virgin, I had no idea what to get except I wanted to be safe! I am not bee or wasp phobic understanding that you must be calm, even if you get stung but I wished to not be stung if I could avoid it. In any case another friend with 6 yrs bee experience was my guide. We ended up with 3.25 gallons of honey after a VERY long and hot day! This bee jacket kept all bees out! I am 6’1”, 190 lbs and I got an XL. Honestly it came snugly down to below the height of contour of my ass cheeks. There was also extra hood room for me both horizontally and vertically. In fact I had a couple bees caught in the hood fold that occurred because of the extra vertical height the hood kinda blouses up around your neck. Just be aware when removing the bee jacket you might want to have a partner inspect it for proper seal/bees before and after you remove it respectively! I’d say the XL would fit a person up to about 6’2”-3” and maybe 220 lbs. All in all other folks got stung when bees got under their bee helmets with netting, but I pretty much did what I wanted to. I also wore bee gloves, and I found it easier to put the mid bicep length gloves on first and pull the bee jacket on over it. The yyk zippers were plenty durable, but I go easy on stuff, especially things like this that I consider to be life support equipment just like scuba gear, etc. If you’ve never harvested honey before, go for it! It was interesting as hell, and this jacket allows you to be among the “girls” with impunity given a little common sense. I also wore loose khaki cargo pants with long socks that I ticked the ends of the cargo pants into. Given a little TLC I think this jacket will last a few years, I can only see the elastic on the wrist and butt area giving out like the top band of tighty whities but a little tape, belt, or simple sewing could fix that if it happens. Try it you’ll like it! Just have a buddy like scuba etc and check each other out for proper fit/seal before entering the hot zone haha and you’ll be fine.

I purchased this jacket after gathering from other reviewers that the Humble Bee jackets are generally sized incorrectly and quite small. I have a 51' chest, stand around 5'10" tall, and don this jacket comfortably with a t-shirt underneath. Other important features include all metal zippers that actually work, secure seams w/Velcro closures, fabric that is adequately thick, enough room for my head and face without the mesh pressing up against my nose, and elastic collars around the sleeves that keep the girls out of the jacket. Just so everyone knows, the zipper pulls do not feature oversized pull-rings for heavily gloved hands, but this isn't a problem that some brass wire and a pair of pliers won't fix should it prove itself to be an issue worth correcting.
